Gixxer K7 750 lights issue.

Morning all,

Have a Gixxer K7 750, faultless so far. Went for a blast to Wales on Sunday evening, all great. Last fuel stop on the way home in large very well lit garage. Bike started first time, moved off, as got out onto the main road and street lights vanished noticed I only had side lights. Had a brain **** for a second and could not remember if there was a light switch tucked away anywhere, remembered not and as round about was approaching just hit any switch to see if anything happened. In the end hit the starter switch and lights came on. then off when let go. did this a few times, then lights stayed on.

All other electrics working fine and bike running well and has not done it again. Thought I would ask if any gixxer owners have had similar before I start poking about in the wiring / switches etc.

Cheers, Ben.

sounds like your headlight relay. Hitting the power to the starter temporarily takes amps from everywhere else initially, and that fluctuating voltage might just have been enough to encourage the headlight relay to unstick. Thats my guess anyway and I’m sticking to it. Swap the relay, or prise the top of the existing and check the contactts are clean, and that it clicks over nicely when 12v is run through it.

cheers Scorch, will get on to it this evening.
