its not easy shane, I used the patches huge fuggers stuck over me gob

2 years down the line I feel better for it, I think the smoking in public etc will help you, give it a month and food will taste totally different even edible

good luck with it

great stuff…cheers stevo…;).

ive been on the tabs for 17 years now so not sure what to expect.i just want to be able to take a deep breath again…lol…

smiled:).

get to your docs tell them your giving up and you can get the full course of patches for the price of a prescription, exspensive otherwise go for the 24 hour ones,

blimey Dr. Steve in the house…NEXT

im really nervous about it but since i saw that lil spot of blood…its time to give it up…altho…im gonna get fat so rather get to the gym and get muscles aswell…lol…

smiled:).

You can do it mate, i went from 60 a day to 0 11 years ago. So if i can do it you can too

Definitely get the doc to script you some nicotine replacement. I had my last smoke on April 7th and have used the inhalators this time. They really take away the edgy/panic feeling you get with the physical addiction bit and the holding a fag habit bit. The patches work well for stopping the craving, but I found I my skin had a bad reaction to them.

Having tried a couple of times before after more than 30 years smoking, it only really worked this time coz I really wanted to be a non-smoker.

Good luck, and watch what you’re eating! Even watching what I ate I put on a stone giving up :w00t:

Cherie

Good luck with it Shane:) not easy but I went from 20 a day to none in a day, decided to stop and just did, so it can be done mate:)

Good on ya fella, I smoked for 10 years, 20 a day. Tried a few times to give up with no success, than read a book - Alan Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking. It changes your whole subconscious perception of smoking so I read the book and just stopped, no patches or nicotine replacement. Do get down the gym though, I put on a fair bit of weight which I still haven’t managed to shift, 8 years down the line FFS!

cool…thanks for all the advice above…but i might just try going cold turkey me thinks…;).

if i can do this with just a positive mentle attitude…then i think i can acheive anything…

im not gonna lie and say i wont miss it…cuz i do enjoy it…but last night freaked me out and i feel its somthing that shoulda been done along time ago…

thanks again guys…aint had one sisnce 7pm last night…wooohooo!!!

smiled:).

I tried giving up for years, then one day, i felt the time was right. a set of circumstances gave me the will power to stop.
Havent touched a ciggie in about 3 years now.

I hope this is your right time, and you manage to stop.

Good luck fella

I stopped two years ago, I bought the Allen Carr book and even before I got to the end I stopped.

Not all the same things help everyone, you have to find what works for you, but I went from a 20 a day habit (over 21 years) onto nothing at all! and had no mood swings or anything, gained two stone, but lost that now! Good luck keep it going.

Sounds like you’ve had enough of it and are going to knock it on the head this time. Same thing happened to me - I just stopped enjoying it and was starting to feel the effects on my health and fitness - I stopped overnight and soon felt healthier and started running/gym again. Occassionally I cadge a ciggy off a mate down the pub (as a special ‘treat’ to myself) and find that I don’t enjoy it at all anymore and wonder why I ever started smoking in the first place.

Ditto to that Mo, it’s all about wanting to quit rather than feeling you should.

Shane - give up for a week then get in a lift with someone who’s just come back from a fag break, the smell is unreal when you’ve gotten used to it not being around…

YOU!? FAT!? Please…

good luck dude x

DAMN good show, Shane!!

This is a fantastic thing to do…an investment in your own health and well being. I quit the easy way in that I never started…but it sounds like there are several people who have broken the cycle…draw inspiration from them and walk away.

YOU can do this!!

KSG

i stopped 4years back & feel better for it:) although i did have a naughty 3weeks back on the sticks a few months back:pinch: but realised why i stopped in the first place.

cos i’m scared of ms mad-dog:D now back off them again:)

now just to sort peeping addiction b4 i get caught:D

Keep It Up

I gave up 4 weeks ago tommorow and it gets easier every day , and i feel fitter every day too!

just checking in…

ive not had a fag all day so far…wew…i find chewing dry bread helps at this time…:).

i just want this day to end as i hope it’ll be easier tomoz…plz be easyier tomoz…lol

will check in again in a few…

smiled:).

Well done Shane keep up the hard work, it will eventually get easier don’t give in.

I went from 40 a day to 0, it took me a year longer than Mark to do it but I did. That was 21 years ago  never looked back.

Pass us a fag someone, the stress lately has given me more reason than any to start again but will power says ‘like lordy! (grr macp or feck) are ya going back to those fags girl’ lol
