Give feedback to TFL about buslanes

I think it might be helpful if a few of us ‘owned up’ to being cyclists. Responses from cyclists saying that they are not concrned about bikes in bus lanes would undermine the relentless propaganda from the cycling Schutzstaffel.

I was stopped next to a cyclist in a bus lane at a set of lights the other day, so I asked him what he thought of the trial.

“Doesn’t bother me, mate - as long as you give us a wide berth I think it’s a good idea. It’s these f**kers,” he pointed at a car, “that I worry about”.

Sadly, it won’t be the people who don’t mind, who fill in this survey. :frowning:

[Edit: Got rid of a typo. Whoops!]

thats why we should make sure we are filling this as CF said if you have a bicycle put yourself down as cyclist aswell

why don’t you just put yourself down as a cyclist as well (it doesn’t seem to ask for your name anywhere…)

done,

Done!

I’ll also find out at work who has set this up and how it will be used - it doesn’t look like one by my department, as we make sure that this type of thing is representative (which clearly this isn’t).

Can’t hurt for as many motorcyclists as possible to complete it though, as you can bet the cyclist lobby will be doing so!

Completely agree.
When I’m being a cyclist I find 99.9% of bikers respect my space, unlike buses and cagers. (maybe bikers see the Shoei sticker on my lid, or lb one on the frame)

It’s only the spanners who run the LCC who are up in arms over nothing about this. Unfortunately they’re a powerful lobbying group, and afaik the biking community has nothing similar…

got this through via email: dont know if it’s up to date but the ‘5000 cyclists v 200 motorcyclists’ means the cyclists out there seem hell bent on getting us out of the bus lanes - even if it means kamikaze riding…

URGENT ACTION NEEDED - by YOU!

Apparently Transport for London are receiving very few comments from motorcyclists about the new London-wide TfL trial of motorcycles in red-route bus lanes.

The latest news is that as part of the evaluation of the scheme ‘users views’ will be taken into account and ‘numbers responding’ will play a part in this.

Clearly none of us want to see a situation where 5,000 cyclists have protested and 200 motorcyclists support. It’s this kind of thing that would shift the political balance against us.

However, cyclists campaign groups are steadily orchestrating a build up of resistance to the measure, being well organised at grass roots level in the capital and elsewhere. Tfl have already received large numbers of submissions from cyclists, opposing motorcycles in bus lanes.

We risk losing the scheme at the end of the 18 month period unless the motorcycle world demonstrates widespread support for the measure.

So I urge all of you who read this to use this link to visit the TfL ‘user views’ website and complete the response form, which will take only about two minutes.

https://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/roadusers/finesandregulations/motorcycleinbuslanes/default.aspx

All, if you’re a member of any other bikers social networking site, could you start a thread on this? Please also use whatever other avenues for publicity that you have (owners clubs, other social networks, word of mouth, forward this email, etc).

The cycle lobby groups are motivated and determined. They see denying motorcycles access to bus lanes as a number one key goal. They have a strong and well motivated campaigning local network. They will do all they can to achieve their goal. Unless we respond to this, we risk seeing this hard won concession denied to us after the experimental period has finished.

The TfL scheme is being keenly watched outside London. Failure of the scheme in London will be likely to cripple our chances of getting motorcycles into bus lanes elsewhere.

Will do
and feed back done

I’ve seen this on other bike forums, too - it looks like the troops are mobilising.

Makes me laugh.

How safe do the pedestrians feel when un-experienced/inconsiderate cyclists are weaving through the zebra/pelican crossings as streams of people are crossing or mounting the pavement to get ahead. What happened to their safety zone?

I think cyclists, (me included), need to concentrate on riding safe all the time, not just when they’re in their exclusive red-carpeted bus lanes.

That’s a pretty poor comment on the BMF and MAG. Whether it’s true or not, too many of us think the same thing.

Done!

have posted. thanks for link

Bump! Please keep sending in your feedback as you can bet your life the LCC are working out more devious ways to get bikers thrown out of bus lanes - the more support this gets the less likely we’ll find ourselves unable to use bus lanes in the future.

I also filled in the comments box telling TfL about how the cycle nazi’s are trying to skew the result.
