Great movie clips huh? Shows just how easy it is to break a £100 chain. It doesn’t matter which one it is, unless it’s an Almax, it’s not worth it! I have Almax as well, stonking stuff. And remember, this is how thieves nick bikes, few seconds on a pair of bolt-croppers and the bike is mobile.
Yea, shocking stuff, £100 !!! may as well burn ya money.
Almax may be expensive but my bike is worth more!!!
so money well spent in my eyes…
get an Almax guys
just looked on there website along with a ground anchor an almax is my next purchase…
Shock horror! Gonna have to sleep with one eye open until I get an Almax.
I would like to point out that we all look for bargains, but be careful about buying security products off the net. We all know that stolen parts get shifted on ebay etc all the time. Personnaly, I would not be temted to buy any chains, locks etc from anyone other than a genuine website, or better still a real shop.
I’m sure that there are some less than honest people out there that would sell you a chain (and know where you live cos of the delivery address) and come back for it and whatever is attached to the end of it (your pride and joy)
It is really easy if you are the owner of a lock to get spare keys. Whats to stop a less than honest person selling you a lock with keys, and then coming round with a spare?
Sorry if this post offends any genuine sellers, but we all love our bikes, and i feel being a bit over cautious is justified.
i never thought of that, you would make a good thief, well not now you just gave away your secret but a fully valid point…
Doh!
Where did you say you lived again…???
i didnt…
I’ve gotta say that after reading about all of the thefts on here recently, I invested in an Almax chain and a ground anchor a couple of weeks ago. One thing’s for sure, if someone’s big enough and determined enough to get through a chain and anchor like that then they can keep the bike!!
I found that when I called them they were unbelievably helpful, and they also give a 10% discount if you mention LB. At least now I can sleep properly at night knowing it’s well locked up!
Glad to hear it Rusty! We have indeed negotiated a 10% discount for all members. The Almax guys are very helpful as you say, asking the right questions about what type of bike you have to check how the chain can best be secured onto the bike, how to position the bike and where to mount the ground-anchor. It doesn’t get much better does it?
Got a Squire (the ones that’s Ride rated). Anyone know how that fairs?
Might have to add an Almax to it
mini mo, i think all other chains are easy, get the Almax to me safe!!
Ah, yes, says it all really.
Strange thing is that they still use Squire locks. So if I bought one I’d have the same lock holding it together
It’s just the chain links which are weak in other setups, Mo. The proper Squire lock is good.
It also demonstrates how important it is if you can to chain the bike to something and keep the chain off the ground. The videos show the considerable amount of leverage needed to break the links and without the ground to provide a base it makes it a lot more difficult.
22 and 24 seconds is just a joke it take longer to take a piss.
…Well office/insurance company I locked my bike up went in to Mc Donalds for a wizz and when I got back my bike had turned in to a cheap chain
