Looks like he’s been practicing on the sly for a while!
I LOVED watching that guy ride…fearless…but man, did he ever take a TON of huge crashes…and his body suffered for it. I wonder if he can even walk now days?
Yes, the worst one I saw was when he highsided the YZR500 on the way INTO a corner at Sugo (I think). He had the thing well sideways on the way in and it suddenly found some extra grip!

I’m trying to figure out a way that I can watch more WSB this year…Speed TV here in the States has REALLY taken a turn for the worst…a ton of NASCAR rubbish (is there ANYTHING lamer than watching a bunch of rednecks drive round and round and round and round in circles all afternoon?!)
I looked at Gary’s website today and apparently he has a ride in WSB?! I was shocked…I thought the guy would be in a wheelchair or something.
He rode in WSB in 05 - it didn’t go that well, which was a shame.
I think he has struggled to get a ride this year, hence the motgard move.
Some crictics have said that becouse of his love for “ride looking cool” he did make some avoidable mistakes. In my opinion absence of fear can be bad in some situations… Good luck to him
I’m sure that is probably true…but when he got it right, he was FAST. Unfortunately, consistently setting yourself up for MASSIVE high sides is bound to catch up with you eventually.

The 500GP at Welkom where he came through the pack to win the race was one of my fave races ever!
He was sideways at every corner, in and OUT!
