I’m still exploring this kit and was a bit concerned that it recorded max speed. Well, I shouldn’t have worried. Here’s the output from a trip someone made recently :w00t:
There’s an astonishing amount of data recorded. The question is, would it stand in court?
Don’t know if it would stand up in court but I hate to think what an insurance company would do in the case of a claim.
I’m sure they would try and use the information to wriggle out of making a full or any payment.
that is if the rider is silly enough to hand them that info :ermm: :w00t:
if you’ve had yourself and the bike knackered they would get it from the recovery people, just something to think on.

I don’t think it can be used as evidence as I do not believe it’s properly callibrated to a standard that could be used in court.
If you get pulled and a police officer cycles through and draws attention to your top speed you can claim it was done on a private road, a German road or that your sat nav is very innaccurate for speed. You are under no obligation to admit where you did the top speed on your Garmin. You could even say you took it on a roller coaster or a plane as it still works on those.

I have one of these, does it track automatically or do you have to select it?
It tracks automatically regardless of whether you have set a route. Just connect it to your pc, open mapsource and click no export from device. It doesn’t keep data indefinitely as it would run out of space but your last few rides should be on there.
does any body know if a normal bluetooth headset will work with these
yeh it does work with it mate, i have a scala rider hooked up buh also use a standard mobile bluetooth piece if i am jus unsing it on foot.
Oh I hadn’t though about using it on foot with a bluetooth headset. That could be useful, except if it tries to take you on the motorway.
Just in case, you can reset the trip data quickly anyway.
I delete all my data trips anyhow…
BTW anyone got the 2009 Maps for it yet?? I have a cracked 2008 version but didn’t bother installing, still using the 2007 ones.
