Fun in the mud Part Deux

A friend and I went out recently to the dirt track next to the M40 J6 turn-off to have a play on our DRZ’s, pretty simple stuff really as we’re both dirt novices, just getting kicks out of sliding the back through corners and trying desperately not to fall off

LOL HOW MUDDY…LOOKS LIKE LOTS OF FUN

It was boggy, and unless you’re fast, you aren’t going to clean the mud off the tyres, and I’m definately not fast, lol! Going this Sunday to a new venue with a few friends who are also novices, so it should be a good laugh! Got new tyres to abuse! It’s such good fun, just bumbling around, then building up confidence to keep the throttle open for longer, bouncing around and surfing the mud, then power-sliding through corners… very addictive!

lol thats why they called dirt bikes

Hi, all
where exactly is this track?
do you know when it’s open etc?

Hey Angelo, I believe it’s around J9 on the M40. Definately the M40, but I’m not sure on the exit. You can see it on your right as you go past it, coming out of London. I believe it’s open 24hrs/365days, though I’ve not been there for a while.

It’s along the Ridgeway as well, if that helps. They put various obstacles up normally, i.e. jumps and other things to make it more challenging.

Do you mean it is just set up and people just have a go for free, or does it have marshals and all that and you have to pay?

The times I’ve been there, it was open and unstaffed, you rode as you liked. Fun place.

any idea how far from london?

20 miles?

i am just a bit hesitant to go hunting about with a mate or two in case we miss it, long way to go for a ride on knoblies if we do not find it!

a

Would this be it?

Whoah, yes, that’ll be it. Bummer, no ride there then by the look of it. The whole Ridgeway thing is a disaster, I’m not dirt-biker by any stretch of the imagination but from what I saw of it, the bikes were doing sod all damage, it just seemed to be a few walkers complaining as though they have nothing better to do. It’s a sorry state of affairs when the government are held hostage by vocal miniority groups.

i defo would like to have a go but it is a long ride up if i can’t find it. is it that place thats just after the bit when the m40 (out of london) cuts though a hill with white chalky walls, and then you can see half of oxfordshire out infront of you, maybe that hill is the ridge way? thats qiute a long way up the m40 though.

???

Angelo,

If you read the article in my post, you’ll see that the place Jay mentioned is closed down.

Pity about the course who was that hurting…oh well another example of stupid bobble hatted twats ruining it for everyone else…I will remember to spray any walkers with extra dirt next time i pass some on a legal trail…
