My girlfriend has a car. Am I insured by default to drive it third party?
Thanks in advance.
PS please don’t just say yes, I need justification in case I take your word for it, have some turkey reverse into me then find I am in trouble with the bizzies
check your policy on whether it says ANY other vehicles or not or just bikes …but to be really sure , just give the insurers a call…better safe than sorry…
I have got fully comp on my bikes and needed to drive my wife’s car once , called the company and they told me ''NO! You have been accessed to ride and be insured on a motorbike, some of you have not even taken the car test! ‘’
Year , after a different inrurer and I tried again as I needed to drive a friends van! Same answer! So, I believe they access risks on a diferent way for cars and bikes and they won’t allow you to do so, or vice versa! (perhaps specially vice versa)
ha! they wont even let me ride another persons bike on third party now unless I pay an extra £50-60 ! and thats with fully comp on an R1100rt and 29 years riding without a single claim!
NO bike insurence only covers you for bikes as someone earlier said they only take into account your bike license when giving you insurence, whether you can ride another bike on the policy depends on who you have insured with. But check her insurence as it might have Partner on it, the car is insured in the wifes name and comes with insurence for me as I declared I would drive the car when I transfered my car no claims to her.
