I looked through all 24 pages and couldn’t find satisfacting answers.
To clear it up. It’s gonna be my first outfit. I would like to spend ~1000 for all - helmet, 2pc leather suit (or jacket + trousers), boots and gloves. I’ve got only 1 life so I want to protect it as much as I can.
I’m only decisive to buy Shoei XR 1000 Rouge. Don’t know which size yet and where to buy it by the lowest price Any suggestions?
-> Boots - probably Sidi / A*stars. Which type would be the most appropriate for everyday travel to school and from time to time - longer and further ride? The one which won’t get wet in even small rain and be airy at hot summer time. Is there any?
-> suit / jacket + trousers. Limit is 500-550. Where in London (most likely south, central part) can I find and try them on? I’ve been also wondering if men suit fits me or not. The problem may be with my… breasts So any recommended brands for this cash and where to find them?
-> gloves. Here I have no idea, not at all. I’ll leave this for the end but still need any advice.
All in all - where I should go?
ah & btw - are there gonna be any sales in September because of the end of season?
Second that about Richa, the textile stuff is really good in the wet weather too, cost wise it appears to be fairly mid-range. All my stuff was from West London Suzuki and they’ve got a good range of womens clothing in there.
i got an XR1000 lid from HelmetCity in tatsfield today [about 25 mins from croydon], good service and a £330 lid for about £270! def check them out as they are very good suppliers [google helemtcity and it should come up!]
I’ve been on thier site and admit that they have good offers. But I’m in London for 2months and sometimes it’s hard for me to get somewhere so imagine traveling further… I could purchase and wait for receiving a parcel but I’m a bit afraid… however, heard it’s good shop.
ah okay yeah i wouldnt really want a helmet delivered to me, id rather pick it up. if you can get to their shop its worth it as they have just about every colour scheme on the xr1000. if not im sure you can haggle elsewhere and still get a good deal
I got must leathers there as well and they were happy to order in gear in other sizes for me to try.
Got my helmet in J&S New Malden and they were helpful with the fitting. I didn’t think they had the best range of clothes but I know other girls who think there range is very good so give them a try.
I recently bought my missus a full set of kit, didnt go for leathers because we wanted a bit of versatility in them!
Went to Girls Bike 2 in Archway / Holloway and the girl was great, had loads of time to spend with us and was VERY knowledgeable… I think she lurks on here and posts on here so you could ask her - if you look in the PRAISE section, there is a thread on that shop!
I’d make the time to shop around, its worth it, if you save £50 or 60 on your leathers and £40 or £50 on your lid then you are saving the cost of some boots or a very good pair of gloves!
Ebay has tons of Sidis for sale, both new and second hand.
If you try them in a shop you can be sure of your size. All the second hand ones seem to top out at 50 quid. Got mine second hand for about 47 and theyre in very good, (but used) condition. From a comfort and safety perspective theyre as good as new.
Just do a search, stick them in watching items and bid when you fancy.
If you do want new stuff, I think you can still make a good saving by buying from ebay shops.
Also got a great Frank Thomas leather jacket (used but great condition) for 50 on ebay.
Helmet - I tried some helmets but I couldn’t feel big difference between them (all fit my head) so I’ve chosen Shoei XR-1000 Rouge - 100% satisfied ( http://www.helmets4u.co.uk/images/CAS5VG8G.jpg )
Now I’m only looking forward trying them all while riding :hehe:
Nice one, looks like you’ve got all the kit you need. I would get some waterproofs to put over those leathers though. Ebay should do the trick for that, or pop along to your local outdoor adventure place and pick up a jacket and trousers.
Starting to ride in the spring did I read… getting prepared!
