Ful comp insurance and non insured bikes?

Ok so as you may have guess from my other thread im selling a project bike of mine! but heres the new quandry?

So i get it MOT’d

but cant tax it till i insure it! Im not keeping it so whats the point! I was gonna take it down the ace and plaster a sale sign on it and stand back an gaze upon its beauty. But I obviously cant get it to the ace without the above???

So could i MOT it. Then get a mate who has fully comp insurance to ride it down to the ace for me? as i only have TPFT on my bandit?

The bike needs to be insured, even if it is only 3rd party only. E-Bike insurance do monthly Pay as you Go insurance, so that might be worth looking at. Means you can get it taxed and road legal, thus improving a chance of a sale. Your friends insurance cover would not cover him as the bike itself has to be insured for his insurance to be valid.

gotcha

Forgive me if you have already (I haven’t searched) but is it worth just putting a for sale post on here first to test the water?

That would save you the hassle of insurance and road tax:)

I believe that the buyer wants to test the bike before he would buy. So it is better to have insurance

EM

Would Ryan’s insurance cover a test rider then?

dont think it would chunks, the buyers own would though at a guess

I know it wouldn’t Steve. We are assuming the new buyer would already have insurance.

doh !!!

Back to the original post.

If the bike is on a SORN, the only thing you are allowed to do is take it to the MoT station and back to park it up off road, and NO, you can’t live in London and book your MoT in Stirling, or Brighton, or anywhere else silly.

If your doing just that, your insurance will cover you just to get your MoT. You can’t even do that if it’s not covered by insurance

After you have your MoT and taken the bike home, you need a road fund licence or your insurance is invalid.
