Fuel leaking

Evening all,

Was going to head out on the fazer this morning, got my kit on, started the engine choke on, everything ok. After the engine had warmed up I backed off the choke and fuel started to run out of the tootm of the engine. Upon further inspection it’s coming out of what looks like an overflow pipe from one of the carbs.

Any ideas what could be causing this? It was running fine 10 days ago with no signs of a leak.

thanks

I would be the last perston to ask really, but I believe I’ve read somewhere that if you don’t close off your fuel tap for the night, the fuel might leak in into the engine.

sounds like a float valve stuck open.

Give the carb a gentle tappage with a plastic thing … like the handle of a screwdriver . May cure it temperarilalalaly or prementality .

+1

Cheers guys, I’ll give this a go this afternoon.

So after finally getting day where the heavens aren’t open and I’m not busy (sleeping) I finally got round to having a look at this.

Despite some gentle tappage with a screwdriver it’s still pissing fuel. So looks like a trip to the mechanic might be in order to get it sorted. Pain in the arse really as I’m skint :frowning:

balls to that. drain the carbs, take them out and unscrew the float bowl covers, you’ll be able to see if they’re gunged up or something. it’s almost certainly a stuck float.

while you’re there, you might as well strip and clean them really.

Hmm slightly out of my comfort zone.

Get in there- not too difficult and the best way to learn too!

he’s right, just make sure you do each carb in turn so you don’t get the parts mixed up.

Maybe I’ll have to sum up the courage and give it a go

silicone grease is your friend when persuading the carbs out from the rubbers.
