After recent off decided to remove whole front on my gsxr 750 k5 to check it over . Forks were straight , but bottom yoke little bit twisted , but motoliner took care of it . After puting it back on bike decided to look at brake calipers , since brakes felt really weak recently . After closer inspection on those , it turned out that some of the seals needed to be replaced ( ordered whole kit and fitted ).
After bleading brakes feel great , but got weird feeling that bike is pulling to one side when braking hard .
What can be the cause ?
Ill add that discs are new , ( old ones wrapped )
I’d be keen to know the cause too:w00t:
i’d say its braking better 1 side to t’other at a guess.
Sounds like mis-aligned forks/yokes. Make sure that either end of the front axle is the exact same distance from the ground. You might need to loosten off the yoke clamps and make some adjustments. Is the bike pulling to one side if you ride with your hands off the bars?
Nope! Even bikes with single disks don’t pull towards or away from the disk. Uneven braking can’t affect a bike as only one wheel is involved.
It is much more likely to be uneven setup of the wheel or forks, or possibly uneven tyre wear.
tires are new (michelin pilot road 2s ) .
Will try having look at yokes- forks .
would it be possible that changing brake discs put front wheel out of balance , and needs re-balancing ?
thanx for info
Possible yes. My wheel was very slightly buckled and over 6 months i rode it. when i eventually looked at it fully (wheel off) i had awful tyre wear, which was leading to worse wobblying!
Ironed out when wheelieing so were’nt that bad
If the front wheel needed balancing, you’d likely feel a nasty vibe / shake at anything from 70 - 90 and above.
Yep thats what i had.
Check the wheel and head stock bearings first…with the front end off the ground
If it only feels like it’s pulling when braking, could it be that the fork stanchions are not straight lower down the tube?
So as the tube is pushed up into the fork body under braking it’s forcing the wheel out of alignment making it feel as tho it’s pulling to one side.
I know you had them checked but it would not take much.
Just a thought.
Since you took the front end apart and then put it all back together have you made sure both forks are level in the yokes, that is one not lower or higher in the yokes; Also, if you stripped the forks you may have unequal suspension adjustment of either proload or compression damping, be worth checking…
