Riding in traffic with full beam is a case of doing all you can to irritate other road users. And while you’re at it reduce their ability to judge your speed or direction as well as potentially mask other road users in your glare.
It also smacks of a riding style that places far too great an emphasis on being seen by other road users to preserve your own safety.
Might as well wear high vis…

I wouldn’t be in favour of High beams in traffic (have done so myself before, but generally not)

I’m probably going to get flamed for this but…
When I’m filtering at speed down the dual carraigeway I sometimes hope that the cagers haven’t seen me. In heavy traffic they are very unlikely to actually change lane, but if they are totally unaware of your prescence they will not deviate from their course, or bother waking up from their Radio 2 induced coma to even notice my existance as I blast my way through the traffic.
Saying that your riding plan isn’t based around making other road users responsible for your safety is probably a good thing
I asked why would you want to be seen as it was apparently suggested that it wouldn’t be for safety reasons.
well i certainly dont filter on main beam all the time, that isnt what i said.
i also wear high vis respro at night times, especially in winter, as i said before, we all havee our own ways… and no stusv, thats not to get a general reaction of support from lbers.

That’s not exactly what I meant. I was trying to say that you can learn on here what the best standards are, from what other people say.
I think Johnse & MrFox have made good points that I also agree with. (esp now that MrFox has clarified).
I used to commute on a Dual carriageway that had traffic crossing from my right. Speed limit is 60. I have to rely on those people crossing my path to see me, for my safety, the only alternative would be to slow down from 60 to 20 on approach to this jusnction in case they SMIDSY me. So Headlight on for me (even at the risk that I bump flash them to come out) What would you do?
