Got a fine for not SORN ing the track bike, totally forgot…
Its been off the road for several years, i never use it on the road, it has no MOT or insurance, seems a silly system? Just cause its still got a log book?
The log book proves its mine rather than being nicked i guess thats the only advantage?
Why does and £80 fine go down to £40 if you pay it early? Surely a fine is a fine?
I Think that’s a case of a law that’s designed to trap abusers of the system rather than ‘genuine’ forgetful people.
I had the same when my license revoked through wrong address, and oversight on my part led me to get ‘caught’ in an edict designed to stop people driving without licenses intentionally.
As for the reduced fine? That’s just an incentive designed to stop you contesting/going to court etc.,
Was thinking of writing a letter to say it hasnt moved and it was a genuine mistake! but like you say, contesting it takes time and by the time they write back the fines doubled… My own stupid fault i guess…
