Awwww hunny, i’m sending my best wishes. It might be Norovirus, i had it once, lasts 24-48 hours and it is hell. You’ll know cos the back and front end is often projectile. Oh…and you want to die so it will finish.
Not recently - though in my time in Africa - spent lots of time on bogs (or hovering over holes)
Worse day was when I was bored (had been at least 10 times that morning) and decided to clip my toes…managed to pull off the whole nail on my second toe - ouch - so with blood going everywhere, I checked out my last roll of bog roll…what to do? Wrap your bleeding toe or conserve paper for your dash next to the bog? Nightmare.
Back on task, this does sound like it could be vomiting bug going around… adults at my work were off for 3 to 7 days - dependent on how bad (or lazy) there were.
Genuine tip - lots of flat coke. It’s basically water and sugar - which is what you need when you are dehydrated. Which you will be if you have the shits and don’t replenish all the lost water. Add a spoonfull of salt (Doh) if you can stomach it.
Yeah - lots of sugar / water and salt apparently. The advice (from a Doc) assumes you are not taking in any food - which is often the case if you are throwing up as soon as anything hits your stomach.
One of the pleasures of life in the bush in Africa - with no access to a medical service…fun times.
On the upside it’s like a hot fire . . . it will burn itself out quickly. 24/36 hours and the little viral b*astards are dead. Be aware that you will be VERY infections and literally alive with the virus; anyone around you (and you yourself) must wash their hands like mad!
In the mean time with the world flying out of you (from both ends) dehydration is an issue.
If you have someone you can send to the chemist get some Dioralyte or Lucozade Isotonic. Cola drinks don’t hydrate very well as they contain too much sugar. The spoonful of salt is a BAD idea, it will probably make you hurl even more.
Also, peppermint tea will soothe your aching guts as it is a natural antispasmodic. It also tastes better in your mouth than the contents of your stomach!
If it last more than 48 hours call your doc for more advice
