So I’m in deepest, darkest North London. Im parked up & in the back of the lorry & I hear the rather nice rumble of a bike. Being me, I have a look and see a sports bike parking up at the burger stand opposite.
Rider gets off and as he does so, flicks a switch on his
right. I hear a little whir and watch open mouthed as his plate folds up under his seat, then back again!
Now ive heard about such trickery but never seen it.
I wont divulge where exactly it was, nor the bike but if anyone here knows who it was…
they are a very very very naughty (middle aged) man!
(And need to be more discreet!)
Ive never seen one, but it would appear that the authorities take a very dim view of them…
No not me and yes a very dim view.
Even if it isn’t in use its illegal.
100 chav points right there
Just done a bit of Googling and it seems if you’re found to have one of these on your bike you’ll get prosectued for “conspiracy to pervert the course of justice” and probably end up with a 3-6 month jail term!!! :w00t:
black bike by any chance?
i do know someone that has one, and they do work, sod getting caught with it tho!:Whistling:
Yes Ratty. Black bike indeed. North East London/Essex border? Tell him he’s a bad boy & eating burgers at 10.15pm isnt good for his health

Have a butchers hook at this if you want to see the outcome of a fold up plate. Geezer got sent down. Watch from 3:56, the outcome is at 56:15.
I certainly wouldn’t mind one of these, not to dodge plod obviously but would be handy for the odd time you really want to sneak into one of those bus lanes you aren’t allowed into!
I watched it all the way through. Great find Joby.
£700 fine plus £215 costs for the cyclist for effectively back chatting the copper!! PMSL.
I’ve seen one and it was on a ‘black bike’. He made it himself.
Meh. Less bother if you take your plate off altogether.
What Im wondering (and maybe I just over analysis things) is the bike i saw had a small plate. So surely its going to draw the attention of our bibs anyway?
Once stopped, they will most likely run a check on other things too.
My theory (and as a relative noob feel free to educate me) is if I stick with a sensible size plate, yes I may get anpr’d but it will come up clean (naturally) and even if I may have been a little over the speed limit, chances are off I go. Hassle free.
The thinking being, if you ride to get noticed, chances are you will but you may not like the attention you get!?
Absolutely, the name of the game is don’t give them an excuse to stop you in the first place.
