Carl Fogarty’s World Superbike team are looking for a new backer after announcing that title sponsor Petronas will quit at the end of this season. Again he spoke more than he could do… I actually used to like him as a racer, no doubt that he was really fast but after I purchased his book, I just can’t stand the man anymore! I even didn’t finish the book! He’s the most arrogant person I have heard about!
It’s ironic that just as his own riding career benifitted so richly from the WSB rules, his team has been blighted by them.
The rules changed too late to allow a 3 cylinder bike to have a full 1000cc capacity, and they couldn’t afford to redesign.
Look at what Troy C did on it, and then what he achieved on the GSXR. The bike is a lost cause, and TBH they should consider themselves lucky to be funded for another season.
I’d love to pick one up at the end of the season, would be a great track-bike, they sound mental and would still be quicker than anything else out there. Imagine that, they’d have more success, lol… But yes, lucky they did get funding for so long. A brave project, with an unfortunate outcome.
Isn’t there trouble with them racing the bikes? I rember reading that because the bike isn’t produced and doesn’t sell at all that they might get kicked out of WSB?

As for the Foggy Petronas, dead duck that requires putting down. I can’t see the bike getting anywhere unfortunately. It seemed like a good idea but the bike just hasn’t cut it despite all the money thrown at it.
I want to get ungry with that comment but I couldnt avoid a laugh… Those leather are very ‘little’ nowadays… and yes, they were a bit ‘little’ at that time… I was refusing to buy a bigger set…lol
