Here’s a vid of the only flyable fw190 .Used by the germans to fight the allied bombers… It’s taken a lot years to restore, notice how the engine sounds…totally diff frm a Spit or a Hurri. The Brit fighters’ merlin engines usually have a high pitched whistling sound while this one is more of a popping snarl. Now u know when all those veterans talk about being able to recognize the sound on a cloudy day what that meant. (imagine being a Lanc tail-gunner and watching one of these coming at you in a dive.)
Very nice. BMW engine if memory serves. I remember hearing the bf109G at Duxford when it was newly rebuilt and that had a very distinctive engine note too.
Not many other aircraft saddos here, nightstalker…
very nice!
“aircraft saddos”??..hehe, its allright dude, to each his own eh? …yup u’r right BMW 801 engine…now you know why their cars are so quiet, had about 60 yrs to rectify the noise prob…
Nice - can’t remember seeing one flying before, theres one in the war museum, otherwise I’ve only seen old footage of them, mostly it’s the 109s you see though the Fw 190 was a better fighter.
Apparently though they never ironed out the landing problems and they had lots of casualties from landing accidents specially with inexperienced pilots in both planes.
Undercarriage does looks a bit sort of flexible though!

ask V2 about em, his ‘mob’ flew em all the time!! lol
Nice! I love all the old wartime planes. They sure did advance many things for modern flight, and engines in general, i.e. fuel-injection. This plane has a right ‘slappy’ engine, eh?
I was including myself in that description …
Gonna set up Gallery in next few days of my trip to Munich Air Museum. I’ll let you know when it’s done!
It is great to see it flying. I have been to many airshows before, I used to work in the avionics industry which was dead handy.
