Van pulled out on A10 and took me out. Waiting for X-ray and ct scans but think its all brusing.30 mph into the side hurts and leaves dents bike probably done for. Me thinks may have a sensible chat about my future riding…
May need a favour if anyone can help recover it for me
Update:
Nothing broken just lots of bruising to ribs and left leg, staying in though with contusion to the spleen. So gear did its job considering a 30mph body check into the side of a transit van.
Usual sorry mate didn’t see you despite high vis top, lights on and the fact he stopped in the middle of cutting across me on a dual carrigeway. Basically went for a gap that wasn’t there and there was no filter on his lights! Bike’s done for so fun and games will start tomorrow with insurance.
updated 1/2/11:
So at home now, still hurts like a mofo all brusies on the leg and arm are coming up nicely (zombie leg look it’s been named at home), kidney and spleen still sore and brusied ribs are making me short of breath. Don’t mention sleep as that’s not happening as uncomfrortable no matter what.
Looked at the bike quickly today, and the damage is all on the left (as you sit on it) from the lower fairing back. With the damage and a sheered of R&G crash bung it suggests that I almost made it round the back of the van, but meaning that I took most of the impact of the crash. Inside of my left leg probably took the weight of the bike/squeezed so could have easily been a broken leg apparently.
Have to say although loads of people slag off Frank Thomas Gear the armour in the jacket did it’s stuff considering hitting the van shoulder first pretty damn hard! No burst seams, splits, rips or anything. Arai Viper GT scratched from either the van or me hitting the ground but either way binned.
Insurance, legal help, medical aid, bike hire, personal injury calls have started so fending them off - telling them you are in hospital and have no way of providing the details was pointless as they just call the next day! All I want is to get the accident claim underway and the bike picked up and assessed for repair/write off!!!
Hoping work will be understanding and patient is really my biggest concern, call tomorrow will hopefully put any anxiety to rest.
