I’ll probably have to move soon because the roof is leaking in my current flat and doesn’t look like it’ll be fixed any time soon. The land lord is not co operating either.I’m looking for a flatshare somewhere close to the M4, Chiswick and Ealing look nice. I have a CBR600RR which I’d need to put somewhere. I’m at work mostly during the week and at the weekend I go to the gym and polish the motorcycle.
Does anyone in motorcycle land have (or know someone who has) anything suitable?
Alternatively I’m available for house sitting in your house for free if you are going away for a long time and need someone to water the plants. PM or reply to the thread if you’ve any advice. Thanks.
Unfortunately I don’t know of anywhere but if you’re in unsuitable housing conditions (like leaking roofs) you can take legal action. Basically you say to him either you pay to fix it or you can sue
I’m not too sure on the laws though so have a look into it
Whatever you do, don’t withhold payment of rent as a stick to make him fix the roof, the courts really are behind the idea that two wrongs don’t make a right, it has been known to happen and the courts accept it, but it really doesn’t help, much better to play the dutiful tenant who always pays the rent.
The above poster however is correct, you have legal rights in regard to the leaking roof, as you are in a contract with the Landlord. Your best bet is to get some free legal advice, preferably from a place that can write you a letter.
I have just written a letter to a Landlord on behalf of a tenant, but I have done it through a free law clinic that I volunteer at, and it is less about what is said in the letter and more about the fact that it comes on headed paper.
