Had this product for a few months now. Its great. Its really bright and makes you stand out a lot more. Batteries lasted for around 12hrs of use, and still going strong. Will invest in some rechargable ones. The velcro, stays tight and the vest doesnt flap around. ( Tested to about 60mph).
Had a problem with the switch on the jacket, the seller was great and put the part in the post the same day and via first class. Great customer service.
If you want any pictures to see what it looks like in the dark let me know.
Well loads of people have noticed me when filtering and move over. Plenty of riders only wear dark/black clothing helmet when riding at night which makes them really hard to spot. The inevitable sorry didnt see you mate, doesnt help when your on the floor/ worse. I like it because i can have it flashing/ steady red light/ totally off ( during the day). My other reflective vest from lidl relies on other car headlights shining on the reflective material.
I actually find the flashing lights on every bleedin’ bicycle at the moment quite off-putting. When there is a row of them in the advance box at traffic lights it look’s like some sort of psychedelic runway. Worse still are the flashing lights they strap to their heads- what you see from a distance if they are not wearing any other reflective clothing is a light wobbling about as if suspended in the darkness- quite weird and not really safe IMO. Your flashing jacket maybe more subtle but with all the static lights everywhere the flashing ones just add to the mayhem. Hi-viz is one thing but if you take it too far you could end up the object of someones target fixation IMO…
might sound like a good idea :ermm: but i believe it illegal to have flashing lights on a vehicle unless you are an emergency service (or police) only bicycles can have them
Now this is going back a fair few years, but when I did a cycling proficiency thing at School, we were told that we weren’t allowed to have flashing lights on our bicycles… So I’m unsure as to when this was allowed. I too find it huuuuuugely distracting whether in the car or on the bike. Granted I doubt many cyclists would change to the constant setting PROVIDED on the lights they fit, but it would really help a lot I think. It would also help if they learnt to obey traffic lights too… Or maybe I should jump off my Fazer when the lights are red and push it through too… :P:D
The key point here is that the flashing lights are not fixed to the vehicle and therefore (at least in my understanding) it’s perfectly within the law.
Not being funny but then wouldnt you need to declare hi viz jackets, and surely the insurance would refuse to pay out for injuries if you were not wearing full leathers/ textile suit ? Seems a bit extreme to me, but ill ask the insurance company in the morning.
I find the reflective properties of the vest good enough, and hardly ever use the flashing lights, it would be most useful on a unlit motorway.
