fixing fork legs?

Ive got some fork legs that have ovaled and are letting oil out by the seals.

been told they can be rolled but i havnt got a clue about this.

anyone know about this?

Ovaled ? rolled ?..you sure its not pitting or eneven plating wear rhats causing the oil weep ?
I have managed to stop weeping in the past with carefull use of 600 grit wet n dry and even on one occasion dripping superglue into deep pits then sanding it back .

That’s intreresting. In 50 years I’ve never heard of forks being ovaled.

O.K. on a an ancient bike that’s been around the world a couple of times, the wear has been on the front and rear of the stanchions, but then the rest has been knackered too.

“Rolling” might be short hand for sticking them them in a Motoliner (or similar) machine and forcing them, by rollers, to be straight and round. That’s O.K. but…

Before accepting them back, check for straightness with a decent steel straight edge and “ovality” with a decent pair of calipers or a micrometer.

Better yet, let them prove it to you using their tools.

You need to replace the forks. Lucky for you i have a set, pmed you.

plus yo may find that for the cost of them being worked on may be cheaper to buy new stanchions
