I can’t believe it’s true, but at the end of the year, LB will be five years old. It’s been a big part of my life and it’s genuinely humbling to see the impact it’s had on other peoples lives, with the highs, the lows, the great memories and even the romances it’s created.
I remember sitting in an office off of Oxford St five six or seven years ago drawing out the initial ideas for LB on a scruffy piece of paper. It took some time to actually get it built and launched, but nearly five years since we launched in December 2004 it’s quite something to stand back and think about what has happened since.
What should we do to celebrate five years of LB? Please share your ideas!!
I think that we should have a party, with no bikes, so that everyone can have a drink to celebrate. Probably somewhere central in London during the week so that tubes and trains can be used.
I cannot believe how much this place has grown since I first joined 4 years ago now and would love the opportunity for a celebration . Maybe we can get some of the old faces together too as well as the new fresh faces of LB .
It’s bringing a " nostalgic tear " to my eye just thinking back over the years LOL
With all the good and bad things that have happened to fellow members of LB, even in the last few months, it seems all the more relevant that we get to know each other a little more.
What about a treasure hunt during the day, with a party during the evening to announce the winners with a bit of live music etc… Kind of like the Xmas bash…
well I was going to suggest same as RR i.e. something like the christmas party (btw booked for Sat 19th Dec at the Brook Green Hotel)??? its not that long away…3 and half months away.
We’ve got the LB poker night coming up on 3rd Oct (details to follow this week).
Although someone else is more than welcome to organise a shin dig
Good idea to combine the two events (Christmas and 5 year celebrations) as people are tightening their belts so are more likely to just attend one of them.
By the way…Great achievement Jay.
One day I imagine the site will be bought out by a media company and you’ll get an LB magazine like what happened to Visordown so you’ll then be able to afford that Desmo mate :hehe:
Well atlast i know the date for the Xmas bash… unfortunatley im not gona be able to make it back for it now as im working over xmas and having new year off… so thats yet another year i miss out… arwell.
Realy need to get posted back the UK, im missing out on all the biking fun.
And well Lou, how have i missed you on this site ;):hehe:
Have to say it seems like ive been on here alot longer than i actualy have… ive only been on here just over a year and ive gotten so much from this site.
Ive only been part of LB for a short while but id love to meet up for a big party, maybe something like going to a raceday? (as audience) then a big party at the Ace
Well done Jay for sticking with it and seeing it through. I would guess that there have been many a time early on that you thought sod it and nearly gave it all up.
I have to agree that maybe the emphasis should be on getting everyone to the christmas party and make it a joint event.
Invites should be sent out asap seeing as we now know the date and location and get faces old and new along even though’s that have desserted for some time. Maybe a get together with people talking face to face opposed to over the net will heal a few wounds.
