first thought bugger, then OMG it could have been bad!

For last few weeks have noticed my chain needed regular adjusting and had one notch left. Also the tight spot was getting a bit obvious when coming off the power. So thought better get a new one with sprockets and ordered yesterday intending to pop to Essential or SBK on Monday.

Well left work tonight jumped on the bike and started it, popped it in gear and thought that was a bit clunky! Looked down and the chain was lying on the floor with the rivet and a link in bits:w00t::w00t: first thought crap going to have to go back up to the office, get changed and catch the train home. Next thought was thank feck I wasn’t changing gear whilst on the A13/406 at speed and that happened! Chain whipping around catching my leg or wrapped around the rear wheel…feel somewhat lucky now!! Do they often let go suddenly - it was an Iris brand that I’ve never heard off, but ordered a DID Gold VM X ring??

Going to see if my AA cover will take it down to SBK as its not far from Canary Wharf (bikes tucked up in private underground car park so its safe). Otherwise anyone recommend a good mobile bike mechanic just in case?

phew… lucky that didn’t happen at speed!

( is anyone else looking at Cooltempo’s profile pic and wondering if there is a correlation between the chain snapping?..) :hehe:

 would be in more danger of the back shock collapsing and getting the bike wedged in my arse crack!!!

Yep this guys good :-

and sounds like you had a lucky escape it going where it did !
