First bike!

Soooooo as soon as I get back from my holiday next month I’m going to take my CBT and get myself a little bike. I really want a Ninja 600 but I know it would be a bit silly as a first bike (and I would need to do my DAS) so I just wanted some ideas/suggestions of what to get or what you had as your first bike?

I DON’T want a moped. I like the idea of a Honda CBR as they’re lightweight but they’re a bit of a girls bike, aren’t they? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m hopefully completing my DAS at the end of the week and I will then be looking to sell my black Honda CBR125 2010 model. Great little run around…has a few scuffs but small aesthetic repairs. I haven’t put it up on here for sale yet, as I said I hope to finish my DAS at the end of the week and will then do pics etc and put it up.

Let me know if you interested and I’ll PM you some further details on it!

CBR a girls bike??

You’re having a laugh, right?!?!

are they?

When I look at the bikes I want to get, a CBR is totally a girls bike.

Plum - PM me

PM sent

I’ve got a WR125X for sale too, 11 plate, just run in at about 1K miles, nicer than Plums

A CBR was initially my first choice too. Girls bike? Dunno what you mean by that. And even if it were true, they are the sexiest little bike, with a YZF R125 coming in a close second, imo. I would have loved to have had a CBR, but my legs were too long. :crying: Sit on a few to find the right height for you. Things can be adjusted too. (I’m just jealous cos I would’ve looked like an @rse on a two wheeled hair-dryer on a CBR125.)

I do like the CBR125s, I think they look nice and I personally wouldn’t describe them as girls bikes. If I were doing my CBT now I would definitely want one of them

so it’s a 125 you need? have a look at the new KTM duke 125. If they did this kind of bike when I was 14 I would have killed for … the 125 CBRs and YZFs looks too toyish

Any bike is a girls bike…if you catch my drift;)

I’d think about getting one of those for commuting now, never mind when i was 14. Wicked little bike.

and anything with less 1000cc is a ‘girls’ bike

I’ve ruffled a few feathers with the girls bike comment eh? Haha!

Going to have a look properly at Plums on Wednesday, I’m quite tall so I might look a bit silly on it 0_o

Please keep suggestions coming!

Are you saying Im not considered a girl just coz I ride a bigger bike than 1000cc?:w00t::stuck_out_tongue:

If you’re tall you defo want something like the WR125X - perfect for tall riders

That’s never bothered Plum.

I always look silly, on and off the bike!

dt 125 FTW XD all depends what you will be useing it for for comuting and more of a comfy street apeal cbr125 ,cg125,ybr125 for a more fun ride (in my eyes) a wr125 supermoto a dt125 supermoto (what i have) no real point geting a brand new one if your plan is to get a 600 soonish if your planing to use it for a good 4 or 5 years yes but 1-2 no point not really worth it when you think what you will get back on it r125s are nice bit pricy in my eyes

Insurance costs might be a factor - ring round before hand

How tall are you? Also:

  • What is your budget (including equipment and insurance/running costs)?

  • Do you want to commute every day

  • What is your normal commuting route, and where are you parking it?

  • is this a step to a bigger bike (I guess probably to a ZX6R given the Ninja comment  )

  • Will you use it outside of commuting?

all helps in the quest for the answer…
