firblade rr-v clutch slip

3rd gear started to slip a bit , i was told an original honda clutch will cost £214 without labour is this correct and is an original honda clutch my best option ?

you can get a Barnett clutch kit for about £180ish

thanks il check that out

if it was clutch would it not slip on all gears?

1st and 2nd are fine once it warms up when its cold even they slip

OEM clutch plates are the best but iv used EBC and barnnet.
The thing is when you put all the steel and friction plates together it gives you a clutch “pack” and the “pack” hight or thickness is importaint to how the clutch operates.

aftermarket kits can be out slightly and they wear out faster.

The clutch may be slipping beacuse…

its badly adjusted, the oil is old or wrong or the friction plates are worn below the service limit.
the springs are below there service limit in MM.
Remove the clutch cover and the pressure plate and springs and measure them with a vernier caliper or you may just be able to see there shagged

should take no more than 2 hours to fit a new clutch pack. the plates need to be soaked in oil for some time before fitting

do a search on google for CK1284 , there are loads out there , as low as £55 … make sure you get ALL the plates , some kits don’t include the narrower plate …make sure it’s there !!
