finding mum

hey guys hope you can help. Im trying to find where my mum is buried, she died in 1993 when i was a kid, and we were never allowed to go to the funeral. Im trying to trace where she may be so i can visit her grave. All i know is she died in the Berkshire area, ive found a record of her death online, but it doesnt say anything about where she is buried.

Sorry to be so morbid, ive been thinking about her a bit and really would like to finally find her.

Are there any websites i can try for burial records?

Not entirely sure mate. If you know any family they might be the best peeps to ask.

If you know anything about her history, she might be burried in a locailty to her upbringing (although not always the case).

The death certificate should give more detail about where she died - either home or hospital etc. The local authority has burial / cremation records try cemetery offices in the locality.

Good luck! - If you are not sure phone a Funeral Directors in the area where she died - they’ll know who to speak to.

will have a look:)

usually records held at cemetary, try the local ‘big one’ they may have central records, but tend to be in parish records.

dont usually have dets on death cert, but depending on where she died they may have records of undertaker etc. try central records office at somerset house or local websites, newspapers etc for clues

good luck with the search ,

If I remember correctly, although the details may not be on the death certificate, you may have to give the details of the funeral home to the registrar when you register the death.

I’m not totally sure on that, I can’t remember what we registered when we buried my Nan, other than her cause of death. Try speaking with them, they may be able to help.

You may have to prove your identity though and it’s likely to need to be a face to face thing I reckon.

Oh and good luck too.

Aw hun! I can’t help much only to try the county coucil, but I don’t know what information they would hold.

Good luck though xxxx
