Have decided to hunt out a Yammy, XV1900 Midnight Star (Roadliner). Have seen them offered OTR and delivered at 7,999 (mostly 2007 models) but can’t find any low mileage used at a sensible price. The price reduction might be recent as I’ve seen quite a few second hand that are dearer than a new one?Unsure whether to keep looking for a cool-priced used example, pref with some warranty and service history, or to bite the bullet and go for a new example…Would be first new bike and first cruiser…
Comments, suggestions, free food or a pointer towards any being offered invited…
Cheers and woofs…:w00t:
I can’t help I’m afraid but that is one really really nice bike.
A friend has one, done john o’groats to lands end on it this year, also done the iron butt run this year (1000 miles in less than 24 hours)
He love it, I’m still trying to have a go on it

I bit the bullet and ordered a ‘new’ one…I’ll be living on beans on toast for three years now but such is life…Currently waiting on bikesafe garage thingy and then will get the bike…Trying hard not be too excited! Woof!
Wow. Nice choice of bike. Go on get excited. I know I did when I ordered my new bike. I was jumping up and down all day and had a smile like the cheshire cat for a week.
Let us all know when you get it.
And wots your main type of riding? commuting, weekends etc etc
Have you thought of joining the VSOC (virago star owners club).
Not sure where you live but there should be a centre near you. I can give you info if you need it

Will do, am trying to control the excitement whilst I wait for the garage to be delivered, once that arrives I think I be bouncing around for sure…
Will be riding 90% just for fun…plan to visit the shows on it and visit a couple of biker friends in Birmingham I haven’t seen for years…am going to do the Ace Cafe Brighton Burn Up in September…That sort of stuff. Oh yeah, and dossing around at the tea hut in Epping when the weather’s nice!
Didn’t know about the Virago/Star group, yep, pse do send details. I’m based in Kent (near Ashford). But spend some time in London.
Excited, excited, excited…Finally got it this evening (it’s arrived before the garage it has to live in but that’s another story!). Took it out for a bimble, literally, I’d forgotten about that running-in thing, but it’ll give me a chance to get used to the new riding style. Have stuff to do this weekend but will make it along to next month’s Newbie meet at the Ace and say hi to a few people. :DWoof!
It’s a great bike , hope you enjoy it (can I have a go :)

When I’ve learned to ride it properly myself so you don’t make me look like a muppet, sure, why not. Usual terms: bend it/you’ve bought it. Haven’t managed a U-turn on this yet - Not even a three-point turn, being honest. I was paddling that much in some places people were throwing me bread. Must run, some dust just landed on it…Aaarrgghhhh!
