I went from a 600 yamaha with 70ish bhp and 45 torques (peak) to a street triple with 105bhp and 50ish torques (45 at 3k revs). The extra 75cc (OK and the 50% hp) makes a massive difference.
Where as I used to pin it a fair bit with the XJ6, I’d be wearing the ST as a hat if I rode it the same way.
I bought the Xj6 as a sensible compromise… with hindsight I wish I went straight for the triple.
OK, so its thirstier, has a crap turning circle and is a bit of a pain at walking speeds in traffic - but when I do get ride it properly or get to drop it down a gear in a tunnel I wouldn’t want anything else.
Having said all that I am beings strangely drawn to he new Tiger Sport.
I have to defend STR not that I need to but.
XJ6 fuel consumption, STR is in my signature
Improved turning circle, longer first gear so don’t see much problem in traffic.
And here 100% agree twist the wrist in the tunnel and I don’t want anything else… actually twist it anywhere makes you smile. Never tried that but they reckon up to 100mph is simmilar to Speed Triple.
Tiger sport only because of weather…

Must only be me thats excited after I crash a bike and realise theres nothing wrong with me that won’t mend itself… Its an hassle free and economical way to get a bike (because I’ve never had an at fault accident).
Sorry to hear about you losing your bike… To be honest though I doubt you’ll still love it like you did before the crash of you did get it back up and running.
Can I ask what the damage was to the bike?
Also hope you’re own bodily damage is recovering nice and smoothly.
Great to hear the crash hasn’t put you off riding - sounds like you can’t wait to get back on the road!
oh I really feel for you, I get horribly sentimental about my vehicles and have shed tears when they have gone on to other homes… not to mention the scrap yard!!
I love my er6f and 15k miles of commuting, days out and a bimble through france she has been great!
I agree with previous comments that they are not exactly earth shattering bikes but a good solid ride so personally I think your choice is great
Mend fast and hope to see you back on two wheels soon
