Damn, I mentioned this thread to a babe at work and she called me Saxondale - again!
But re: the late Billy McKenzie; when the Associates signed to Fiction, Billy got a clause written into his contract that they pay for his shoes. Oh how they paid for his shoes. He bought dozens and dozens of pairs, apparently. Had a bit of a thing about them. Terrific voice though.
Anything by the late, great Luther Vandross !! Also Gregory Isaacs…
Love Winds of Change too…
I have no favorite 1 song but I loved this because it was so quirky and reminds me of long hot summers in Clacton at our caravan.
Nice B.Mackenzie anecdote 7wheel. Personally I’d take the Saxondale comparison as a compliment:
To quote BBC publicity:
“Tom Saxondale is someone that has been to hell and back and lived to tell the tale. He lives life fast and tells it as it is.”
Great thread haa haa hee hee :hehe::hehe:

Why well why not ?
Hey Lessismore, NMA f***g awesome. I got hairs standin on the end of me neck listening to that song as it takes me back. Loads of memories attached to that one and Ratty mentioning Massive Attacks’s ‘Teardrop’ I used to be a fan of the Cocteau Twins when I was a good bit younger and everytime I hear Liz Fraser’s vocals on Teardrop it reminds me of those days and seeing them live etc. There are some songs that mean a lot of different thing to different people but Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here is one of those that has a similar feeling or memory for most, as well as being an awesome song. Fk I’m drowning in my own nostalgia. Hendrix too, enough said…

I second that Shando! Nice one Lessismore! That NMA track reminds of the days when music had passion and something to say (unlike todays re-treads and fabricated crap) - or am I just getting old. . .:w00t:
Shando you’re not wrong. Ahead of their time that lot and prophetic. Great memories of following their tour in 88
Yeah, you know there are whole periods of my life that I completely forget about, for various reasons, and it’s not until I hear certain songs that I remember them and it all comes flooding back like it was yesterday. Your spot on about NMA being ahead of their time. You know, I can’t really name any new(ish) bands that have anywhere near the feeling that bands like NMA had. I even remeber when R.E.M were good before they went all ‘shiny happy people’, okay, okay, I know kudos to them for letting the B52’s chick join in with the vocals but as far as I’m concerned that’s about the time I stopped liking them. F**k it, get the time machine out love and set the dials for the '80s I’m going back.
