Favorite song and why

After reading smiled’s topic about Boney M, what tracks/songs bring back fond memories and why. I’ll start it off with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Zvtntnb03wWhy, I was 16 at the time and had a hot :w00t: AR50 with AR80 head and barrel fitted, ripping up the roads :). Lots of partying/girls and not having a care in the world. Another one that bring the good old days back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-imJFqjOjgGod i’m get old but not feeling it YET :stuck_out_tongue:

It has to be this one

It always brings a smile to my face, remembering a night at The Monaco in Canvey Island:P:w00t::smiley:

The Associates - ‘Party Fears’ - great track - reminds me of being a kid in the eighties - going to house parties, meeting girls, getting drunk for the first time etc - a time when life still had novelty. . .

I kissed the mermaid from the Coney Island Freak show (with tongues and tight grips). I was seventeen, everytime I hear circus music it takes me back! :D:D:D:D:D

I’d have to say Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms for no special reason other than it’s an amazing song. Along with Scorpions - Winds of Changehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5JkHBC5lDs

LOL I feel like a grandad in the company of nippers. I did the sound for the Associates on a couple of gigs and narrowly avoided doing a tour of India with Boney M in the '80s.

As for favourite songs, too many to think of, but check out a 19 year old Stevie Winwood giving it some:

Superb thread lads. Nice one Smiled - Visage has that effect on me too! Interested to hear that 7wheel wagon did sound for the Associates (real shame about Billy Mackenzie) - Spencer Davis Group absolutely rock! I wish I’d been around to witness that stuff for real.

Ah well boys - as the Kinks said - “where have all the good times gone?”

Wow, this is a hard one, but one song that comes straight to mind is ‘In the End’ by Rush. Reminds of teenage summers down the park, first bikes, teenage boozing and chicks. Those were the days.

Massive Attack’s ‘Unfinished Sympathy’ is an other. I took a job doing gig security so I could go to gigs for free, it was the Phoenix festival at Long Marston and the sun was scorching for the whole weekend. Bowie was playing as were the Sex Pisols. I stood at the front of the stage for a bit before the Pistols came on looking out across thousands of people enjoying themselves. What a buzz. I had just finished a shift and was on my way to get changed and get some drinks when Unfinished Sympathy filled the air. This song reminds me of the whole weekend.

FF- good call!

mine has to be one of two, yes two! fade to black-metallica and teardrop-massive attack

Blimey, tough one, mine change all the time depending on the mood, but a couple of tunes I never tire of hearing:

Older stuff:

Stay with me - the Faces - R Stewart at his best, the tightest rock single, a key change and all attitude.

What’s going on - Marvin Gaye - Never will be a voice like this mans, emotion, soul, love and feeling delivered like no other.

Somewhere down the crazy river - Robbie Robertson - great atmoshere, fantastic vocals.

Joni Mithchell - Anything off the Blue Album - raw.

Mary - Jimi H - Scmooth from the master

More modern:

One - U2 and Mary J Blige - that girl can hold a tune

Seasick Steve - cut my wings - blues pensioner on a 3 string guitar - unique.

Damn - must stop, too difficult not to end up with a playlist!

barricades by missuse aint too bad either! :stuck_out_tongue:

The Beatles - In my Life…I grew up listening to music from the 60’s - me ma’ and da’ are both from liverpool and the stories from them about going the cavern and watching the beatles before they were famous and then watching them when they came back from their tour of america, it was great to grow up to… if i have to pick one of their songs, its with out a doubt “in my life”…

not only because of growing up to the beatles and that, but the montage below sums up the best (and yet one of the saddest) weeks of my life - I was 24 years old, it was my first season following liverpool home and away, in the prem, in europe the lot, to finish up on the border of Europe and Asia, with 8 of my best mates, and finally getting to feel what its like to win the european cup, after being told about it for 20 years by me da’, by me uncle, the lot of them… was just immense…then the worst aspect… coming home to see me’ nan who had cancer and was dying…(she’d convinced me to go, I wasnt going to go because she was so ill) and seeing her in a liverpool sweater, with a flag over her bed was special she was a proper red… two days after I got back she died but I still got to show her my photos and the videos I took, she enjoyed that for sure!

hmmmmm not even heard some of those songs you have put above. It’s impossible to say your favourite ever song!

Oasis - Live forever is probably it though.

Then I’d go Linkin Park - one step closer as when i was motox’in when i was younger i heard this as an underground rock band then they became an overnight monster rock band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5sx7OFPGOY&feature=related numb is an awesome tune to.

Other than that Metallica - nothing else matters errrr Scar tissue - rhcp, incubus - drive and wish you were here
