FAO: ER6 Owners

I was performing the 15k service on my bike today and had an unpleasant surprise upon removing the ignition coils to access the spark plugs…

That is both coils split down the middle and rusted! The bike runs fine and probably would for alot longer but these aren’t cheap items, £100+ each. Fortunately the bike is just inside the warranty period so it looks like Kawasaki will supply the parts. Worth checking yours if you diy service. It seems most dealers won’t bother to look at the plugs anyway, so unlikely to find the issue during the first couple services, (ie, the warranty period for most owners). They’re supposed to be installed with rubber grease to keep water out, these were totally dry.

The previous two services were done by the dealer. Also the whole dealer “must” service it to retain warranty is abit of a myth anyway.

I’ve already spoken to the dealer and they are arranging replacements :slight_smile:
