**** Fairing Protectors, bracket or not? ****

OK so heres the thing…ive got harris protectors on my bike at the mo? they are on a thick heavy bracket and i love them, saved my bike a treat a few weeks back?..now i looked about and cant get the same ones…dont ask…i dont know why, just cant find them on their website…
SO went and bought some R&G’s but the only ones they had in the place were the type that you have to make a hole in the fairing ?..ive got them here with me and am having them put on tomorrow…im not happy cos i prefer the ones with the bracket. I asked a few other bikers and got a mixed reaction? Some are saying dont put them on some say it makes no difference as the R&G’s do their job? Its been said that the ones that are drilled though the fairing tend to crack the fairing anyway if you have a spill? Not sure at the mo, may be swings and roundabouts?
Advice please? what you got on your bike…and do they make a difference either or which ones to choose?
Oh and another thing, im probably going to be making the Blade redundant and going for the Suzie 750…i just love that bike !! Saying that, i love the Blade…but think i want a change…but for now…what do you think about the protectors?

The thing you need to keep in mind is that these are Frame Protectors as opposed to Fairing Protectors.

Crash Bungs are primarily designed to protect the more expensive bits of your bike like the engine and frame.

I prefer HPS Crash Protectors as, like Harris they come on a Chunky Bracket (no relation)

Ive had both kinds on many of my bikes over the years…oh i dont know…hes coming tomorrow to put them on and yeh you are right, they are meant to protect the frame…so spose it wont make a difference if the fairing does get the brunt…ive seen many of these on the suzuki’s and they look fine…if i do have another spill, would prob have to get a new fairing again anyway…now, all i need to get is a new brake pedal and foot pedal…i can use mine but i want to change them cos got a bit scratched up…and theres no foot pedals on ebay at all…they have the brake pedal…flipping heck !

I’ve got oval R&G on my bike and they stopped any damage when it fell over, would have taken out a couple of panels if they weren’t there.

My Triumph didn’t have any crash protection when I came off last year and every panel on the side that went down was damaged beyond repair plus the radiator and frame was scratched. Had I had some basic crash protection most of that wouldn’t have happened.

Did not think about protection untill that nice lady reversed into me,…was in the back of my mind under the carpet somewhere with the dust(what was i thinking) Got them now though.

ok but are they the ones with the bracket or just go straight into the frame?

ha ha, just had a word with shewolf, she said stop faffing about with the bike and just get it on the road !! spose i will have the R&Gs put on then :w00t: Wouldnt mind but every other bike ive had, ive not bothered with these things…this is the first bike ive put em on…you know how it is, new bike, get it all done up to the nines…didnt have any on my 2001 blade tho !!
