Exhaust

Yes it’s me again! What will secure an exhaust for a few days that won’t get melted?

Chunkys asbestos smalls? ;):stuck_out_tongue:

Well, in my day (what?) we used bailing wire but Kent is not quite as agricultural now so you wont find the stuff north of Maidstone.

Nearest I know of now is thin (single strand) fence wire.

Desparation is a cut up wire coat hanger.

(Asbestos has an EU wide ban on even possession as a loose product. So you’ll have to go to France or Spain to buy that.)

i was thinking about making a coil out of a coat hanger but i wasen’t sure if it would melt straight away. only really needs to last a week then i won’t be using the bike for a couple of weeks so i can get it fixed when i come back from holiday.

Wire coat hanger melt?

These things are friggin indestructable. They survive in M&S and in dry cleaners.

Yes, they soften a bit when heated, make sure all ends are twisted up, but short of a Bessemer converter…

You could put one on a space shuttle wing and it would still be there after the ceramic tiles had let go.

nice one oldguy i’ll give that a go then see how it holds up going to and from work then i can decide if i need a better solution for the sunday ride:)

not my plastic side panels… thats for sure…

i put the standard exhaust back on my bike for the mo… but… also took the rear footrests off… which meant… the plastic was touching the exhaust… riding home this afternoon… “why can i smell burning plastic?” oh… that will be the side panels… doh!!!

AS Jetstream might say, “Should have used a wire coat hanger.”

Jewble clip

I think thats how you spell it.
