Evening Trackdays

Short version - Evening Track days are great, DO THEM!

Long Version
Sort of following on from my conversation with Jay in his California Superbike School post…
Yesterday I did a evening track(not really a DAY) event with MSV at Donny (GP), not the first one I have done, I think I have done a Cadwell and Donny before.

I really must advocate these as a serious option, obviously my reasons might not be the same as yours, but hopefully enough will be that makes you consider them.

Cheaper - think my first was 50 quid or so, last night was more, but less than a day, so if you bin it, it rains, bike issue etc you don’t loose as much cash.

Bit more relaxed - no getting up at the crack of dawn, rushing for garage space etc, by the time you get there half the paddock is packing up, loads of garage space.

Track time - 2 groups / 4 sessions, 20 mins on, 20 mins off, and no lunch. I always struggle a bit after lunch as I have sort of started to wind down a bit.

Space - last night there was 12 in novice / inters, 30 in inters / advanced, in my 3 events, I haven’t seen any dickheads (not to say there aren’t I just didnt see any)

Time off - rather than take a whole day off, I can work through some lunches, start a little earlier, then knock off early and head out. Obviously this depends on if your work is flexible, allow you to make up hours etc.

Donny is great for me as its only 1 hour away, Snett is 1.5 hours, but still do able.

Following on from my comments in Jays post, after not riding in anger for a year and a half, then some bike issues (blown up engine, replaced it, then the gearbox went) all my mojo went, I honestly felt like a beginner again, scared, couldn’t lean, and stiff on the bike, so last night was to put some laps under my belt and work on it.
The more relaxed atmosphere really helped, luckily I had a few tows and manged to knock quite a few seconds off from my times at the weekend.

i love evening trackdays, ive only done a couple though.

Assuming you are fairly local, its not much commitment too. Did get someone come to a snett evening on a T7 on adventure tyres, i assumed a local who fancied a blast.

Ah, good on you Paul! I used to love a Trackeve back in the day

It sounds like it’s helped you get back into the groove.

We’re doing Brands Hatch GP with No Limits on the 21st July if you’re interested?

Ohh that works for me, and I love BrandsGP, I’ll have a looksee
