Evening standard Poll - Bikes in Bus lanes

Sorry if this has already posted, currently 52 per cent against! it’s about halfway down.http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/poll-27561-details/ques-26992-id/Lite+poll%3A+MPs%27+expenses/poll.do

voted.

voted (yes  )
43% :ermm:

As usual the cyclists are better oganised - get out there and vote!

Voted but it shouldn’t matter anyway- Boris has made the commitment to go ahead and has no reason not to.

But it is still worth keeping the pressure on him - he has not announced a date yet. The poll is still open so we should all make an effort to vote on it.

good to see 57% of the people who vote have no idea what they are talking about

voted, seems there are more cyclists than motorcyclists among the ES readers

i can’t see why they have to do opinion polls like this. the trials were put in place, the results were collated, the conclusion was published (eventually). it IS safer for ALL road users. end of. get it implemented and move onto the next issue.

don’t cyclists realise that if we hit them we’ll probably fall off too? AND potentially loose our no claims to boot? that should be more than enough to keep us out of their way. or are they worried because they won’t be able to weave all over the place, ignore indicators, not shoulder check and generally disregard road traffic safety anymore?

i’m surprised the car drivers haven’t piped up as i’d see motorbikes in bus lanes as a bigger concern to them. reckon that could well be a headache in-store for a few insurance claims in the future what with undertaking etc…

I voted on all of them, that was a bit of fun.

done

I don’t think it is right to say that it is the cyclists as nearly all the cyclists I know think it is ok to have bikes in bus lanes none of them are bikers either.
I think that we need to be looking a wide demographic

1.The paper is owned by the mail if I’m not mistaken and as a result its reporting bias is that of the this quality daily paper
2. I would imagine that a large amount of its readers are cattle (bus/tube users) and that lack of freedom of movement is alien to them and as a result they are unlikely to want others to have that freedom, hence their dislike for bikes
3. A lot of people want Red Ken to stay in power so any opportunity to undermined Boris will always be taken.

Having said that we should still put our mark and as has been said keep the pressure on.

Regretably, by the time this was posted here yesterday’s standard had already gone to print with 61% against bikes!
