Essex tour guide wanted - Sat' 20th September

Are any of you lovely* LBers out and about tomorrow and fancy showing me some of best of what Essexland has to offer?

I have a rare free day, and rather than riding any of my usual routes or doing something useful at home, I fancied taking a trip into what is pretty much unknown territory to me. I could aimlessly wander and explore, but I’d much rather be shown some of the better roads rather than just leaving it to chance that I’d find them on my own.

Anyone? I might even try and bribe you with offers of lunchtime cake

  • or unlovely, or even a bit suspect - I ain’t fussy.

Debating to go out to do finchling route. Maybe if it won’t rain.

I haven’t seen the forecast yet. I should add, I’m pretty much allergic to riding in the wet. If it rains, then the bike will be staying firmly in the garage.

Unfortunately I’m busy tomorrow otherwise I would’ve shown you around the wonderful county of Essex

I would do high beach to Finchingfield as it’s a lovely route.

If I end up going out on my own, I’ll probably attempt getting over to Finchingfield. I know roughly where it is (erm, Essex somewhere?) and I have a phone with dubious reception. What could possibly go wrong?

Well. So far it looks a bit wet but nothing to dramatic. HB to FF is cool route.

Shame I’m working otherwise I wouldve taken you for a lovely scenic tour of Towie land for a cake:D

What time were you thinking of starting Janey? And does it Have to be Essex?

could start norf then end up at mine for a bbq  anytime after 3pm… or any time really

If your thinking of traveling out to essex check the travel news I’m in Maldon and quite a few roads around here are flooded and the A12 is shut a few junctions up due to flooding
Drain covers have also been washed away so keep your eyes peeled
Be safe

Thanks for the headsup. All I can say is, wow, I wasn’t quite expecting that level of morning wetness! I’m going to give it an hour or two to see how well the roads dry out, otherwise I think I may be hunting for a Plan B

Jaime - thanks for the invite. I’m useless in social situations and have a permanent bunny-in-the-headlights look about me, that’s why I prefer being out on the bike as I don’t have to make my poor attempts at conversation :w00t:

The lovely Jets - why Essex? I’m feeling my inner chav calling. LoL. I usually head north, west or south, so I fancied trying to pastures nouveau.

Anyone - how do I multi quote in my reply?!?

Hi
That does not look dry. I’m out.

R

Thanks Blade. As ever, your full and expansive explanation has been invaluable.

Multie quotes involve copy and paste the relevant quotes and Inserting them within the quote tags found under The IF CODE button above
or
open lots of lb pages on the relevant page and click on the quote tag the post that posts it Into the reply box and then copy and paste that into your reply and repeat

I just googled cake and this came up! Hmmm I like cake and slippery wet essex roads I was ginna change my oil and clean the bike but cake is calling over to essrx n beyond

I’m now free to go out, only thing is it’s a bit wet and slippy in Essex at the Moment so not sure you would want to come this way. Just been out for a little Bimble round the Lanes in Berwick Manor (Upminster/Rainham) and the back wheel started spinning up when I opened the Taps on the straights so I didn’t bother playing on the bends. You should definitely come out this way soon though as the Roads to Finchingfield (and beyond) are great.

I may even try and organise another TOWIE tour and take in the Burnham Bends if we get better weather as parts of the lanes around there are like a little Racetrack when the weather is good.

Keep us informed if you do go out as I may pop out again if a few are out.

I made the mistake of thinking I’d earn myself some brownie points and do a ‘quick’ bit of relative visiting before heading out yesterday. Nooooooo, several hours late I eventually got out! It was far too late to don my wetsuit and head over your way, so I was a boring old fart and took and indirect bimble to H’s instead.

A TOWIE 2 would be fantastic Sam

It’s nice dry and sunny today
