For what it’s worth, I really enjoy reading many of your posts, eg thought you articulated your views on George Galloway, really well. You seemed genuinely informed, which, in my view deserves respect even if someone disagrees with you. Plus you ride a Kwacker - what’s not to like?!!
Thanks Ally! - I’m just part of the mix on here - most people on here usually have something interesting to contribute on lot’s of subjects - which is why I’ve stuck around so long
^^ Haha - no worries - I kind of agree that it was a bit schmaltzy - and really wish it had been set in England with people with English accents (rather than strong, nasally ‘Murican’ ones!), but as a relative noob, I really liked the sentiment. So many of my friends and family think I have completely taken leave of my senses/ am having a mid-life crisis/ am going to kill myself imminently, that to find something that quickly defines why I do this was kind of cool.
Seriously the only person I know from my f&f that has a bike is one of my friends boyfriends, but my friend gets really bored and narky if he and I talk about them for more than 5 minutes! So I posted it on FaceBook mainly for them. The seed and water thing particularly resonated with me. Who knows - one of them might be tempted to try it now?!
Then I remembered that debate we had with Kishan where we were trying to explain it to him and so I just thought I would share it with him and then I thought others might want to see it. And then I got shot down - don’t worry, am quickly getting used to it!!
Hardly shot down ally. People will always have their own views on matters, just because they are not the same as yours doesn’t mean they are gunning you down.
I thought the video was a fair reflection on why some of us ride. Not everyone us into sports bikes and neither are they all into customs or cruisers. It’s what makes riding a nice mixture when different people get together.
I also think that it was a shame that it takes the bloody Americans to make such a video lol
There’s a saying which goes “Biking IS a religion”…and its more true than we might realise. It encompasses all those aspects in the video. Once you get hooked, it takes over your life and becomes the focal point which everything else revolves around. Spare time, spare cash, holidays, friends. It has it’s own “code of conducts”, clothing, history and elders.
You cant explain it to those that don’t, as they dont understand. However, you try and “convert” because you want others to follow.
It has to be a joke, right? they are not going to make a full length movie of why people ride motorbikes? Am I missing something? as mentioned, that would put you off riding a bike, but that’s americans for you… “god dam it” if done by English folks it might have been a little easier to watch, but not a lot.
