Hi guys,
wondering how often you change your engine oil. Also what brand do you go for? Do you top up usually or change the oil completely. Where do you normally purchase the oil from too? Dealers or halfords or petrol stations?
Cheers.

I get it from Henry Gherkins - buy their own with a filter and change the lot, topping up between changes if needed.
i havent had to top up atall (doesnt seem to burn that much oil)
change every 4K (oil filter every 8k)
buy from chiswick honda
same as pan, I buy from my local bike shop too. simple job as long as you’ve a decent recepticle to catch it all in (large icecream tub works well)
I never have to top mine up, but change it once a year and buy it from Essential Rubber
Thanks for that. Very useful.

always go for the bike specific oil as car stuff can have friction inhibitors in it and that does wet clutches no favour’s at all …and ALWAYS do the filter too !
i bought my oil of ebay and had it next day delivered
I use a good (api SG rated) fully synthetic oil (since I own a high revving sports bike).
And change it once a year and change the filter every other year.
I also tend to go for the manual recommended weight e.g. 10w40.
Here’s all you never wanted to know about oil…
Semi synthetic, I usually run Motul, I buy from Hein Gericke. Always use genuine filters. I change my oil and filter every 3,000 miles. Years ago a factory trained Honda race mechanic told me, thrash the bike as much as you can, you will always have a fast engine, but you must change the oil and filter 1,500 to 3,000 miles. I have always stuck to what he said, have blown up all my bikes many times, he must have been a crap mechanic? Only kidding.

usually as per the service book intervals, my preferred oil is silkolene super 4, semi synth with manufacturer filters
I’m on a 98 Diversion so the best it gets is Halfords motorcycle oil and a filter every 3k miles.
Its a bit more than the recommended interval, but for the cost of some oil and a filter I prefer to be safe.

i believe they’re running an offer atm too buy the oil and get the filter for free.
I tend to change mine at the service interval of around 8000 miles. I always change the filter even though it’s not strictly necessary. If I’m doing track days then I change every third day.
Hein Gericke are doing a £20 deal on quality oil and filter.
Sorry for the blatant plug (I work at a HG branch now), but it’s honestly for the greater good as I don’t benefit unless you come into my branch and buy from me.
