Ebay scumbags...

More of a rant than anything…

Been trying to get some tickets for Muse in the O2 in October. All tickets are sold out already, then I looked on Ebay and already there’s hundreds of tickets on there for double the price.

These people have no intention of going to the gig, just want to make a quick buck and make the real fans pay a lot more!! Bunch of money grabbing mongoloids!!

It should be illegal to sell tickets at anything above face value!!

Isn’t that what all people do? Do you think Tesco’s sell their products at cost price?

Called a mark up mate.

Ebay made touting so much easier, no more standing on cold street corners with a fistful of tickets.

Pisses me right off when I miss out on tickets for something because the website was jammed up with people who stick 'em on ebay at massive profit 10 minutes later. It used to happen every year for glastonbury - friends missed out on a number of occasions only to see some fecker sticking them on ebay for £500

I like the e-tickets system where you get sent a pdf of a barcode to print out - only a moron would buy one off ebay because that person could have sold a hundred photocopies already. trouble is that the only people who miss out are the fans - the venue sells their tickets quicker so why would they bother taking steps to prevent it.

Ticket touts always used to hang out outside gigs etc. Now they hang out on Ebay.

A Law site says

"Is it against the law to re-sell concert tickets on the secondary market?

Under UK law, it is not illegal to re-sell tickets for concerts, although a street-trading license is required by law in order to sell items on a street corner. In addition, it is sometimes possible for a concert promoter to bring civil proceedings against someone reselling a ticket, but this does not often happen in practice.

"

Complain to the promoters? They dont care tickets have been sold.

Problem is people will pay over the odds. I wont buy a pair of jeans for more than 20 or 30 squids on principle.

Classic problem eh. Nice rant

Yeah but I don’t buy my shopping from tescos and sell it to you for twice the price.

Ticket touts are a bunch of crooks mate. What you wanna do is go to the gig an hang around outside where the other ticket touts are. A few proper fans will be wanting to get rid of tickets on the night via the touts… So keep an eye out for someone approaching a tout to sell a ticket, then dive in and intercept, tell the seller you will give them face value. Wear your Muse t-thirt for added effect.

The tout may or may not get lairy

And of course the high resale values they see on ebay gives them an excuse for ramping up the original ticket price next time…

Don’t buy off touts. If everyone followed this one simple rule then after a short while, no more touts. Or, you could bid on/buy the tickets from the eBay touts, then not pay for them, just to piss them about. Who they going to complain to?

exactly

ebay. it’s a legally binding contract regardless of the ethics of sale

Is it legal or illegal to sell tickets on, though?

whilst its a sh*tty thing to do, it’s not illegal. until it’s made illegal it won’t stop.

Ouch very strong word “scumbag” for someone who might be smart in knowing how to make money, is it drugs there selling on Ebay or your mates hi-jacked bike? Ma bee there even greedy, i thought Scumbag is a low life or something simulur , if peopke choose to buy at what ever rates which might be even sickening does that make the seller a scumbag?

I know where I stand…touts are scumbags. Simple rule, don’t buy off them. If you do, you can’t really complain about how they make their living.

The reason they are scumbags is that they are buying the tickets with no intention of going and ripping off genuine fans. It’s not smart. I think it’s a desperate way to make money. I know times are hard but still, I’d never do it.

Have you looked on http://www.seatwave.com/ yet? Might find them at a decent price.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’d already looked. Cheapest standing ticket is £115. each!!! I may wait until nearer the time in-case any genuine sellers sell for a decent price.

Damn…very steep. The price might drop closer to the time, and just keep looking for true fans to sell tickets if they cant go anymore. Good luck!

sometimes it works in our favour, i got rolling stones tickets in '06 from ebay at under half face value

Who’s talking about the Olympics Martin ?

that’s because he’s been trying to get some tickets for Muse in the O2 in October

yes sorry sookie, edited that bit out now
