Very tidy looking DRZ400SM on Ebay finishing at 19:28 this evening (Saturday).
Messaged the seller for a few details… One owner from new (bought from George Whites Swindon 2008), got both keys, had one service since new - 4000 mile service when bike was first MOT’d, no finance owing, no dodgy history, HPi clear. Looks pretty mint.
I was very tempted but it’s currently at £2,616 which is a little over the £2.5k I would go for a '58 plate 2008 DRZ in a private sale regardless of condition. George Whites were knocking those out for under £4k new. What do you reckon it’s worth? Still contemplating a late bid but it’s not a bike that’s top of my wish list and I wouldn’t go over the odds for it.
I might pay more than I planned for a bike I’d inspected and was sure was really mint, but sight unseen no way. Another will come along.
I paid £1500 for mine, 55 reg with SM and offroad wheels. Seller told a bunch of lies about having looked after it, but after doing the basics (or rather having Tim do many of them for me) it’s superb. Came with both SM wheels and offroad wheels, and I’m pretty damned happy with it
A number of last second bids saw it go for £2938… that’s crazy money for a '58-plate DRZ no matter how good the condition is. The market has really picked up on these, as Suzuki main dealers were selling '58-platers with similar mileage & in excellent condition for that price TWO YEARS AGO! The seller has done alright here… when he bought it new from George Whites in Swindon, I’m certain he’d have paid just under £4k for it. There’s not many mainstream bikes over 125cc that can be bought new and sold over 5 years later having lost only a couple of hundred quid a year in depreciation.
