So who says the DRZ is the under-dog of the SM world?

Yeah, it’s not a hardcore SM, but it’s certainly no slouch. Looking forward to getting my DRZ back from the workshop!

Me
Its got 35 bhp and …it yellow
Only joking they look really nice but 35 horses jeeze
40, I’m sure It goes fast enough, never had any trouble getting to Soho from the Ace Cafe on a Friday night with all the other sports riders… It’s great fun in the mud as well.
The one that Fast Bikes tested last month only turned out 33
XTX’s with full systems and airbox mods only turn out 46
Although to be fair Chambon could beat me riding a Rayleigh Burner
My peddle power work PC finally downloaded the vid. What a crackin ad
The one Chambon races at the golden handlebar is a bit tweeked!
Jay, that prolly shows how pointless a 150BHP rocket is around London!
To quote what I wrote in my previous thread about supermoto’s the low bhp compared to a sportbike is not an issue to be compared with power and speed it’s all to do with the power to weight ratio.
Quote:
…They’re powerful… at least in the range that is useful to most riders. Thumper power characteristics tend to feature lots of low and midrange torque, with horsepower ranging from 40 to 60 on street motors. That may not sound like a lot, but the power to weight ratio is quite favourable, and SuperMotos are also geared low (most top out at around 100MPH). The gearing and the light weight make the most of the engines, and from 0-80MPH they are as fast as all but the hairiest sportbikes.
Unquote
so yeah the one that chambon is using might be running a little airbox tweak but frankly the bike is as seen, except that its ridden buy someone with big hairy danglies
great video and funny too if you understand french
I heard that Chambons was nothing like stock! It was matching CRF 450’s down the straights and breathed on CRFs put out up to 60 horses, there is no way a stock DRZ was do that. I seem to recall that Chambons was bored, diff head etc.
Oh unless you mean the one in the Vid in which case I agree it prolly was pretty stock just ridden by a SM god.
As for power to weight I agree, but a DRZ is only 10kg less than mine and almost 25bhp down and a shit load of torque less
Pete! I prefer the DRZ round town, it’s better suited for it than the fire-breathing Gixxer. I can’t wait to get back on it when it comes out of the workshop, though it’ll be sold shortly after to make way for a track-bike.
Yeah but isn’t that why your DRZ went pop Jay all that full throttle action keeping up down to soho? Full throttle needed cause 33-40 bhp???
It went pop because it didn’t have enough oil in it, and because Foxy kept it at full revs on the motorway It’s got a virtually brand new engine now.
Ah that would do it. So did Foxy (naughty girl) get telling off?
That might not help
I reckon you should get a track CRF fo fiddy as I believe they are called
