Not wishing to go off topic, but I agree. A pet Peave of mine is the occupants of the middle and offside lanes. The paid up members of the Fast and Middle Lane residents association).
They do tend to look shocked when I pass between thier vehicles though.
i ride the m25 evry day and i see alot of idiots on the road.
even today as i was comming home i had to brake real sharp at 75mph becouse mr cage man decided to brake late and hard… i was in the third lane waiting for him to move over when on came his brake lights all of a sudden…i overshot and by the end of it,my front tyre was about a foot past his left side…
imagine if i was doing 10mph more let alone 150mph…
How about the national speed limit being upped to 120mph?
Saw some of the new Ghostrider DVD at Ally Pally yesterday, looked on in admiration as he went past two artics doing warp factor 9, then stood with my mouth open wide as he went between them head on! It looked like he was doing 150mph as he passed the two artics which were in adjoining lanes… OMG!
Sorry Savioury and others who think it is their right to ride at 150mph or whatever on a public road, but I disagree with para 2(that is the beauty of a forum! I can).
If you choose to ride at 150mph and injure (sp?) yourself, the NHS will have to come and do their best to sort you out. There is then the accumulative time and cost to the NHS or private insurers to look after you, if you are badly injured. You touch on the family thing, that is a big issue itself.
Re the NHS, why the feck should an old lady have to spend time on a trolley waiting to be treated in a corridor because some selfish git decided it would be fun to ride at 150mph. I know the NHS needs reforming, but right now, it is what it is.
Or to be truly selfish myself, why did I have to wait a long time for an ambulance 4 years ago when I had a heart attack at home. Was it because they were attending needless RTAs? What additional stress did that put on my wife waiting for someone to turn up?
Cause and effect, cause and effect
Perhaps the NHS should be allowed to decide not to attend RTAs when someone has done something selfishly stupid and is at fault
bacicaly bikes and car are very diferent vehical accelerate diffrent brake diffrent and handell diffrent. speed limets should not be the same for these vehicals . I know i feel safer driving on a motorway (abroad) at 100/120 on my bike (R1) than i do in my car (Honda prelude) at 70mph. Bike you can stop faster you can see more, more room ,not so board and more aware cous you got the wind in your face… come on it true…
Also limets for diffrent weather conditions (Spain ,something like 30/40kph slower in the rain ) might help
but 70 for a bike that just a shame
why dont speeding fines get paid to the nhs? on a sliding scale, if your not very likely to end up in hospital say first offence 85 on motorway small fine, if you are likely to end up in hospital, 5th offence at 150mph+ in built up area you get fined the cost of attending a major rta?
maybe if the fines are on a set scale linked to “likely” outcome of actions it would make people think a bit more?
