I think he got off lightly to be fair. See how far the vehicle travels while he’s not paying attention for 3 seconds.

that looks alot more then 3 seconds to me.
It does look like he glances up towards the end when the car is far in the distance then 3 seconds later he ploughs into it.
Looks to me as if he’s taking casual glances up keeping one eye on the road. Unfortunately you just see cars ahead and its not possible to determine with any accuracy the distance or speed or as in this case that the traffic is stationary.

Makes no sense, I’m not saying she should not go to jail as she damn well should, but she took money, did not kill anyone directly or indirectly but she got a longer sentence…

The theft was planned, deliberate and sustained.
Plus she only got 4 years for the Grenfell fraud. The other 18 months was for defrauding the NHS on an unrelated charge. So she was a serial offender. Both sentences are likely to be served concurrently, so in practice she only got 4 years for both offences.
