Im thinking about buying a new helmet cam over the next few weeks.
I know how much everyone raves about Go pro’s etc. But I have no interest in looking like I have a bit of scaffolding coming off the side of my lid.
So Iv been looking at the ‘Drift Hd’s’
Although there a little old now and the new HD Ghost has replaced them.
Drift HD sells for around £105
Drift Hd Ghost sells for around £260
(Both New)
I cant Justify spending £260 on a camera that (IMO) doesn’t actually look like its worth the extra £155
Here’s a random video that I found on the tube, which I think has helped me make a decision.
I bought the Ghost for the remote control tagging feature and the better night vision.
You press the tag button and it stores the past 2mins and continues to record for the next 2 mins.
This way you’re not just continuously wasting SD card space. The only clips you have are the ones you have tagged. That eliminates the need to sift through hours of footage and means you dont need to clear your SD card as often.
The standard Drift will struggle to show anything at night on poorly lit roads. The Drift Ghost will be fuzzy, but at least you can still see.
You can get the Drift Ghost for £225 at ActionCameras using the P18710 discount code.
Also if I’m not mistaken it’s the (larger chunky) Drift HD 720 that you can get for about £100.
That video shows the Drift HD 1080 which is about £150 before discounts.
I got the one just before the ghost - Drift HD 1080. It’s not bad at night as long as you have street lights. Ghost has a lot more features but I don’t see the point in spending that sort of money as I am not really a big time youtube Vlogger/uploader. Maybe if I had more viewers I would as I would be uploading more regularly. If you are going to use it for the basic’s I couldn’t reccomend the 1080 enough.
ive got the drift hd, and I like it, its good enough for day use, I don’t use it at night anyways, I did some footage of mt tiger and it came out good, got the remote for the handlebars so I can choose when to film etc…
