Driesie's money saving tip

I needed a new battery for the superduke. The OEM battery, which is apparently the only one that will really work is a Yusa YT14S. Official KTM price: £167.26+VAT = about £200

Cheapest independend I could find was £109 including VAT and delivery

I heard that Honda subsidise their batteries (I suspect more like sell at near cost) and that it’s the same battery that goes in a Pan and some of the large VFRs.
Honda price: £55.60+VAT, came to about £70 including next day delivery

Same battery, same make, model, not even a Honda batch to be seen on it, but saved £130 compared to getting it from the KTM dealer

Apparently this battery is used in quite a few other bikes, including some of the large engine Yamahas (V-Rod for example).
So if you need a battery, it’s worth finding out if there’s any Honda that has the same!!

Thanks for the tip. My SD battery is getting a bit weak.

should have replaced all the bike parts with Honda ones!!

Honda parts are pretty good. Even the over the counter ones you can get from Chiswick Honda. I got a clutch cable for the old CB500 for almost the same price as a pattern part and they had it ready in a day rather than waiting for it to turn up in the post.

Ridiculous how the application of the KTM logo triples the cost of stuff.

BTW, did you hear you can get a free brake check before the 31st March on your KTM.

There isn’t even a KTM logo or HONDA logo involved. Basically, it looks like KTM just charges the Yusa RRP (judging on independend shops), but basically Honda sell it much cheaper.

I saw a post about teh brake check, but didn’t receive a letter or anything. Not sure if it’s worth it?

can of worms… i didnt bother.

hehe like it pan but honda can only dream of the DNA is a Super Duke :hehe:
