Don't be stoopid out there folks!!

Hello folks,

Haven’t been here a while as I don’t have a bike at the mo, but anyhow…

I managed to video this near miss and high potential for a fatality this Wednesday morning (16th July), located between Euston, Camden and Regents Park (Delancey and Parkway junction to the locals).

The articulated lorry is waiting to turn left from what is effectively the central lane and as he moves off a muppet on a scooter appears stage left and shoots through on the lorries near side (you can see the wheels through the under-run bars).

Only the driver catching a sight of the scooter and stopping in time manages to stop the rider either being struck by the lorry or running into the JCB hidden from view around the corner.

The scooter is one careful lorry driver away from a completely different tale…

Unfortunately this happens a lot by cyclists, people on boris bikes, scooter riders and people on motorbikes, who are ‘in a hurry’ and have a mis-conception that if they are wearing a hi-viz vest or have a scootah blanket nothing can touch them.

I know that turn and its tight/narrow lanes even for bus’es so the artic must have taken a wrong turn somewhere or been lost to get to that junction…

What the hell??? I would never wish an accident on anyone, but my levels of sympathy for idiots like that would be in very short supply if he had’ve been knocked off. He (presuming it’s a he) is a hazard to everyone around him.

(Tis not a rant, merely an expression of my opinion :smiley: ).
