A few pics of me at Donnington on the 19th August.
Looking good Ken! Man, I loved that trackday, the circuit was too good for words! I can’t wait to get back there!
I didn’t really enjoy it in the first session. With all the ups and downs, I actually felt a bit queasy
Settled in to it afterwards and had a few good sessions. Organisation of the day could have been better though. Had quite a few track bikes in the novice groups which put a lot of us off particurly when the they were diving up on the inside of us on corners.
Have your photos turned out OK?
The photos weren’t great, as the photographers do the same bloody thing that everyone else does, and it REALLY pisses me off; they only take the photos in the morning, which is pointless unless you know the circuit like the back of your hand and can ride at full pace straight away, whereas if you’re in the majority, you take it easy in the morning and work up to a good pace through the day, to get your head into gear, and stay safe… Thus, the pictures always look less dynamic than they could if they had taken them in the afternoon.
I have bought some none-the-less and will post them up when they arrive.
Did you have a word with Hottrax about the track bikes? That’s not normally the case, that you would have those sorts of bikes and riders in the novice group. I hope it hasn’t put you off.
Fresh Orange photography are pants, had a few track days this year with them in attendance. They finish usually at the first afternoon session. Just what you need when the track dry’s out after torrential rain in the morning (not).
They look like some of the best ones I have seen from this mob, must be all the practice they have got in this year so far.
Jay, I was the same group as Ken and words were said to Hottrax. They werent interested on the day, although apparantly a few instructors did follow the group in the afternoon.
It didnt help though, as they never moved them. Fantastic track but spent too long worrying about someone coming up the inside of a corner, and thus taking a few too wide.
Emails have been sent to Hottrax since the event and again they werent interested in our comments. Won’t be using them again thats for sure
oh and Ken, I’ve got footage of you running wide onto the rumble strip out of Redgate
I was right behind you with the camera on the tank, didnt catch you going into the kitty litter
A few of us complained to Hot trax on the day. It was a group booking (MSN Thundercats) and we’ve used them a few times before so I think they listened to us as they had a word with people with track bikes.
Would like to do some mountain jumping at Cadwell next but after watching the BSB this weekend I think I’ll put it off for the time being.
Chuffster, I find it to be the same with all track photographers. They place too much emphasis on showing people photos at the event (at the expense of not being able to continue shooting), rather than covering the entire day and showing people the pictures after. All they have to do is slip a flyer on everyones bike at the end of the day to tell them they can view their pictures online, it’s silly really.
I think the quality of the shots could be better as well, they weren’t too on the ball with locations. Surely the inside of the Melbourne Loop would have been good??? Or the outside of it, coming out and up the hill, I was doing that bit on one wheel all the way! Not impressed at all.
I hope that doesn’t make it to the film!!
I just missed the kitty litter. Wobbled on the grass a bit but got out safely and called it a day.
Was that last session cut short? My brother was viewing on the hairpin and said some one high sided it?
lol, nice action shot ken.
You didn’t mention a grass-cutting excursion Ken?! Don’t worry, we all do it at some point. Reading the track and using braking markers is a skill learnt through experience. Have you got any more trackdays booked, or planned? I think an LB evening session at Brands could be in order soon!
I was doing a million mph past the pits
Grass cutting was in the last session. Just before lunch I took part in a bit of gravel surfing. Managed to get out unscathed though. Was amazed at how deep it is!!!
Haven’t got any more booked/planned yet. Will look into doing some more.
London Bikers evening sesh sounds good!
Keny , that was a nice pic! got some of those from a friend of mine that suppose to be taking ‘amazing’ pics…
