Doh! My first off.

Feeling really pissed off and stupid. Had my first off this morning. Approaching a mini round about, when car suddenly decides to come round. I put the anchors on, too heavy on front and skid down on my side. Doh!

All low speed and minor, not injuries. Few scratches on fairing/belly pan, bent crash bobbin and can popped out. In a state of panic I couldn’t work out why I could push the bike off road, was convinced I knackered back brake causing it to stick on - Bike was still in gear…

Anyway, popped can back in, checked it over, all still working, just a bit of damage to cosmetics and pride. Just annoyed at scratches, as it was in really good condition before. :frowning: What have I learnt? Easy on front brake in wet, more back brake. I can lift the bike off floor (was always a bit dubious of this!). And check bike is in neutral before trying to move/start it!

Well if you wanted to establish the limits of your bike , I reckon you have done that. I reckon any off or even near-miss is a massive learning experience. Fantastic that nothing more than your pride got hurt today old chap, bugger the damage, most peoples bikes have a few battle scars, adds character

dont worry least your ok,

Glad you’re ok, as scorch says you can only learn from this!

hopefully it don’t cost too much to sort out.

Certain bikes won’t start when they’ve fallen over until you reset the ignition. That’s one to consider too. There is a sensor in the bike that tells the ECU that it’s been horizontal.

That could have happened too, as it had stuck its indicators on too. When you’re faffing around in middle of road, trying to get out of way, you don’t about this sort of stuff…

Damage isn’t too bad, but may cost a bit to bring back to looking new:- new belly pan, new crash bobbin, mini faring sand/respray, new can. Besides the bent bobbin and small crack in bellypan, its all light scratches, so not really serious enough to spend money on. Besides, I’m still a newbie, I might drop it again!

Glad you’re ok. On greasy roads it’s so easy to do, but careful with that back brake - it’s very easy to lock the rear wheel, although the resulting skid is a lot easier to control (and fun!)

aww, sorry to hear that!, hope ya leathers were ok

Leathers and gear all good. Was really quite low speed, so not serious at all.

gutted, soz to hear of the spill

pics?

Bring it round mine and we can bodge it with rattle cans

Also you’ve now learnt not to trust other road users on roundabouts

+1 In what universe is it correct to occupy the left hand lane approaching a roundabout, if you intend to turn right? It’s not rocket science is it?

Good to hear you are okay and have learnt from the experience.

That reminded me of this:

genius
