Does anyone ride through Blackwall tunnel Northbound?

HiDoes anyone ride through Blackwall tunnel northbound going to Canary Wharf - I need help getting to Canary Wharf as nomally use tunnel - is it best to go via Woolwich Ferry and if so is it easy to get to? I am coming from Bromley.

Thanks

Dont go anywhere near it,

the whole area is non moving due to northbound fire and is closed until wednesday, plumstead into woolwich, also dartford tunnel

its ok if you are coming from london though, if you are going to london, i think traffic is being rerouted to rotherhithe tunnel, and dartford, but dartford is now non moving.

Just a thought, but how about going via Tower Bridge and then turning right…?

I got taken that way today- but can not remember the route, I know where to go when at Tower Bridge.

A colleague lives in Bromley and it took him 2.5 hours to get to Deptford this morning…:w00t:

So I would try avoiding the Rotherhithe tunnel…

This is rubbish, looks like I will have to use the train tomorrow :crying:, at least the southbound tunnel is still open, so easy to get home tonight - I hope.

Try going via Downham and Sydenham to the A205 near the Horniman Museum, then go up Lordship Lane (the A2216) to Denmark Hill (where King’s College Hospital is), then up towards the Oval.

Then you can either turn right along the Embankment to Tower Bridge or go over Vauxhall Bridge.

It’s a bit convoluted, but it cuts out the whole Deptford/New Cross mess.

have you thought about going into greenwich and then DLR too canary wharf.

or through rotherhithe tunnel…

Thanks will have a look at that route

Not sure where I can park my bike thats safe in greenwhich, otherwise DLR would be good.Rotherhithe apparantly not good, took someone 2.5 hours to get through this morning on bike and also don’t know how to get there.I am not good when going into london only know how to get to where I work via Blackwall Tunnel otherwise I have to follow some poor biker, as I have done in past when its been closed.

yea, tower bridge - wapping (the highway) - limehouse link, is definitely the way to go. No real problems filtering down there in heavy traffic, done it many many times, s’easy

I gave the bike a miss this morning, heavy rain, tunnel closed, recipe for being knocked off the bike filtering as impatient drivers change lanes as soon as a tiny gap appears. M25 at Dartford was like a car park so I knew the A2 and every other road into London was going to be really bad.

Not looking forward to being crammed onto the train on the way home though:crying:

Weird coming home tonight. No traffic southbound from Aldgate all the way through the tunnel until you hit the Sun in Sands, then t just stopped. I guess peeps thought the tunnel southbound was closed and were joining from Blackheath.

TFL are saying the tunnel is open again this morning.
